Menhir & Idyllwild Build A Hard Plastic Dark Age Outpost
August 26, 2015 by brennon
Menhir Games are joining forces with Idyllwild Games for a project that will launch on Kickstarter in September, the Dark Age Outpost. This 28mm terrain kit will be available in hard plastic and could well be a nice affordable way of building up a neat tabletop focal point...
The building kit will come with walls, towers, gate structures and all of it is simply assembled to make a quick and easy defensive position. I think the design is looking robust enough and the actual look of the terrain is good too.
The team are also going to be offering a range of single piece metal miniatures in addition to the outpost giving you some defenders to stand up on the walls looking out over the moors.
This all looks right up my alley. Cool Dark Age forts and a bunch of neat miniatures for use within the setting ticks all of the boxes when it comes to making a tabletop game fun.
You can go and check out the Kickstarter Draft Page for more information and to send your thoughts to the creators.
What do you think?

Nice and generic I could see Orks, beastmen, Romans, Normans, to name a few.
make this. oops
would be nice if they did some longer wall sections, but thats just me with personal preference, and no reason why they cant later on.
Also they’re hard plastic so you can glue them together. But you already thought of that
i would prefer a slightly wider tower
Hello guys!
Depending how the campaign advances we may add stretch goals to make a 4×4 (sides) x 6 inches tall tower, and another stretch goal can be low stone walls + corner/column.
The measures of this basic kit is such because they will be laterused on a series of boardgames made by Idyllwild Games, so, that means that later, we can make other measures without having the boardgame as limit factor, i would make the wall secitons 3-4 inches wide for example.
Salutes! Ramiro
PS: thanks Brennon!
looks good any idea when it is going live?
In the first days of september, less than a week to go live! 😀
Will there be any options for clips or are they stable enough without being secured to each other? Looks good and definitely worth backing.
Been waiting a long time for something like this – can’t wait. Wants it now!
As far as I can see, the walls are just stockade, you can’t place a miniature ON the wall. I can’t see much use in these walls in wargames, maybe skirmish games at best. Oh well, might as well pledge, seems like a fun project.
We are planing stretch goals, including “pasarels/platform/corridors” for the palisades.. and a big tower/keep as mentioned.
