Magister Militum Craft New Modular 28mm Castle Terrain!
December 15, 2022 by brennon
Magister Militum has released a surprise new terrain kit onto their webstore this week. If you're looking to build up your defences and take on a siege in your Historical wargames and beyond then how about their new 28mm Castle?
28mm Castle Gatehouse // Magister Militum
The castle sections are made out of resin and have been designed in a modular fashion so that you can put together a small keep or a much larger castle or fortress on the tabletop. There are nine different sections for you to choose from which can be slotted together in various ways.
28mm Castle Straight Wall With Stairs // Magister Militum
There are straight sections like the one above and of course, you've got to have a gatehouse at the front to let your beleaguered defenders inside when the sally forth doesn't work! Because of the way that they have manufactured some of the different elements that make up this castle, you can get some interesting shapes out of it.
28mm Castle Corner // Magister Militum
Yes, you have your standard straight bits but there are also plenty of forty-five-degree angles that you can use to tweak the shape of the castle and work it around elements of terrain on the tabletop like rocky outcrops. You could glue all of this together for a more permanent set-up but I think leaving it modular might be a good way to go.
You can check out more of the castle sections on their webstore HERE and start thinking up what kind of castles you're going to be building. Oh, and the portcullis in the gatehouse actually goes up and down!
Whilst this would be great for Historical clashes, there's no reason why this couldn't be in your Fantasy games either. The nice thing about castles is that they are prolific!
Could you be tempted by this modular castle?

The gatehouse looks nice… but not 100GBP nice.
Seriously! I regret never having bought one of those big plastic castles from Games Workshop (or more recently, Warlord games) back in the day. Can’t believe nobody is currently making an affordable one!
I guess I just need to save up and buy a 3D printer, eh?
Hot wire cutter and foam. Seriously. Rectangular shapes with bricks in it. It’s done like “within a day”.
There is still the hard plastic castle from Fireforge Games. The whole castle (big variant) costs 190€. Smaller one is even cheaper. I’m pretty happy with mine.

Good looking castle wall’s.
It’s very nice. But I’d need a loan to buy one.
