Light The Beacons With Fenris Games’ Dwarf Firetower
November 3, 2015 by brennon
This structure from Fenris Games has been built by the Dwarves as a Dwarf Firetower to spread messages around the Kingdom, from Hold to Hold. It is made of sturdy stone and no doubt the location of many a Dwarf Ranger over the years...
The tower actually has a removable top meaning that you could choose what sits there if you didn't like the firepit. I love how hilariously and precariously placed the bowl is atop the tower, so the poor Dwarf who opens that trapdoor too soon might end up knocking it all the way down to the ground below.
I would imagine that is why the bowl is so cracked and roughed up from years of hapless Rangers knocking it.
What do you think of it?

Nice concept, but poorly executed. Like you say, there’s an issue with the hatch opening an knocking the fire pit, not to mention there’s no room for the dwarf to climb out onto. It would have been better if it had been broader to avoid these issues.
Also, just personal taste, but it looks too roughly built to be dwarf work – I always imagine dwarf built masonry to be cleaner and more form fitting and even after centuries should still look relatively neat with only a few bricks out of place.
Looks like a fit with Tabletop World’s terrain, but I agree with @lordofuzkulak . I would have been happy if the hatch opened sideways, and cleared the bowl. What were they thinking?
This doesn’t look like dwarven engineering. This doesn’t even look like engineering. It just looks like a used goth ashtray.
I’d hate to be the person lighting that bason as you have to stand on the hatch door. God forbid someone else decides to go up as the other person has only two options if the hatch is opened. First choice is into the fire, the second is off the tower.
Also, thinking about it, the fire bowl should be over the door – that way in a pinch you can dump it on anyone attacking the tower.
