Kromlech’s Massive Nekropolis Terrain Range Now Available
March 10, 2021 by brennon
Kromlech has now released their absolutely immense range of Nekropolis Terrain for use in your 28mm Sci-Fi wargames. If you're looking to set up a tabletop themed around an ancient dynasty of sentient robots then this might be the collection of wargaming terrain for you.
Lost Pyramid // Kromlech
At the core of the new range, we have some larger kits like the ones you see here. The Lost Pyramid is a very impressive looking complex that would work as a centrepiece for your games. With its towering obelisks and the detail worked into the surface, it looks like somewhere that your Space Marines would fear to tread!

As you can see (above), the Lost Pyramid can even be constructed so that it's closed, denying entrance to all those that would dare plunder its secrets. I like the idea of having it like this to begin with and then as the game continues, opening up the Pyramid and unleashing legions of warriors from inside.
Another of the larger pieces that you'll find as part of the collection is this Tesla Energy Core. The HDF kit is enhanced with the addition of plastic elements to really bring it to life.

Whilst this terrain might look suitably terrifying to paint it could easily be finished up with the use of an airbrush of spray cans. Once the terrain has been assembled and undercoated you'd just need to go in with greys and greens (or whatever colour suits) in order to get the desired effect.
Talking of using plastic to enhance the terrain, the Annihilator Beamer does just that. I love how the central element of the piece is held aloft by the crackle of gauss energy from the outer spurs.

Whilst I do like the Lost Pyramid, I think that the Beamer is possibly one of my favourite terrain elements from the collection!
Every good Necron knows that you need the use of a Summoning Portal in order to get your troops to where they need to be. So, adding one of these into the mix might not be a bad shout.

As well as being useful as part of the larger Nekropolis and Immortal City collection, this is the kind of terrain you could drop onto any board. You could be battling across an arid desert or through the ruins of an old city and see one of these looming out of the darkness. It would be quite the statement piece and offer up a morsel of narrative. How did it get there and what does it do?
Finishing things off when it comes to the larger statement pieces from Kromlech, we also have the Nekropolis Walkway here which can be used to make long roads throughout the Immortal City.

These look like the perfect place to put objectives or get stuck into tense firefights and skirmishes as you battle against the denizens of the Immortal City. It should also be noted that a lot of the terrain that you see here can be snapped up as more individual components as well if you like the idea of tinkering to make what suits you.
More From The Immortal City
In addition to what we've looked at above, there are also loads of excellent pieces which can be used to add character to your grimdark wargaming tabletop.
Nekropolis Technomancer Statue // Kromlech
Nekropolis Lord Statue // Kromlech
The Statues are just some of the different terrain options available from Kromlech. These are cast in resin rather than crafted from HDF but certainly speak to the spooky inhabitants of the Immortal City.
Adding to the array of characterful pieces that can be placed alongside the larger pieces we have terrain like these Obelisks which are utterly fantastic.
Royal Obelisks // Kromlech
Scarab Obelisks // Kromlech
Energy Obelisks // Kromlech
Gauss Energy Cores // Kromlech
I particularly liked the Scarab Obelisk and you could very easily make it so that they walk around the tabletop during your battles, perhaps adding buffs and de-buffs to various units.
We finish with a few more resin elements that can be used for basing or as set dressing for the larger pieces of terrain. If you're making some scenic bases for a lot of these then you might want to consider adding a few crystals into the mix.

Nekropolis Crystals // Kromlech
The main thing with this terrain is that you can get inventive and really have fun with it. Whilst it might all be perfect for making an Immortal City of the Necrons it would also be good for dropping in alongside more typical Sci-Fi terrain to add a hint of mystery.
Big & Impressive
I think this says it all really and in some cases, size does matter. There are some excellent things you can do with this terrain if you put your mind to it.

Are you impressed by this new themed terrain set? If so, what are you going to be building with it? If you pick some of Kromlech's collection up please let us know and make a project showing off how you built and painted it!
What would you like to see Kromlech do next?

This is spectacular. I’m not a ‘cron player, just really impressed. I love the beamer thing and the “floating” obelisks. Damn, Kromlech!
Ooh nice I see they have tiberium? All the terrain looks great.
They are nice, but I did look twice at the prices when I saw them.
Great looking kits!
The exchange rate is a bit of a killer for me ATM but, i’ll probably be adding the Nekropolis Technomancer Statue and the both Crystals kits before spring’s end…
