Hunker Down In Knights Of Dice’s Prototype Tower
October 9, 2017 by brennon
Knights Of Dice are showing off more of Sandport Hydra as they revealed the prototype design for their Tower which is looking rather nifty indeed.
As you can see the tower is pretty massive when stood next to some of the Star Wars miniatures from Fantasy Flight Games. Rather in keeping with the theme, this building would be a perfect fit for that universe I think you'd agree, maybe manned by a contingent of Storm Troopers?
The design is looking great and there's plenty of room for getting creative with your paint scheme if you like too.
What do you think?

wow the village/settlement look fantastic.
It looks appealing, but the fact that it’s MDF turns me off almost immediately. I understand it’s a relatively inexpensive material, but designs like that are incredibly fiddly to work with and the less robust sections (like those struts in the windows) will inevitably break. It’s just a matter of if it happens while you’re getting pieces separated for assembly, or while you’re building them.
That looks superb! I probably won’t get Star Wars, but I love the Tatooine-esque setting for various games. If they sell these in the UK, I’ll pick one up!
@shinygames here in the UK stock and sell the Knights of Dice range, so hopefully this is something we (because I want one as well!) will be able to buy locally.
What impresses me most about this building is that it actually looks Star Warsy and that’s really, really hard to do without IP specific iconography unless you are making Tatooine style dwellings.
Yes, we’ll certainly be getting this in stock in the not too distant future. As you say, this looks Star Warsy but not infringing IP, and not so much that it won’t really work for other games too without looking like it was copied from Star Wars. I’ll definitely be getting one of these for use with my own Beyond the Gates of Antares forces.
Very STAR WARS. It’s the terrain that is going to elevate STAR WARS legions. i’m a massive STAR WARS fan boy but not a huge fan of FFG’s sculpts. but once I see what people start doing with the setting it’ll likely be a huge dilemma for me.
I thought it would be good for a Scariff board.
I can see the star wars influence, but for some reason my mind also wants to paint them up gritty for making a bladerunner esque table for infinity.
Yeah I can totally see that. Paint the raised panels in glossy black, the recessed panels in a very dark (and matte) brown / black and put some gold ‘glass’ in the windows. Just add smog and flying cars!
