Fenris Single The Pre-Order Of The Dwarf Firetower
November 9, 2015 by dracs
We recently saw that Fenris Games were working on the latest in dwarf communications with their Firetower, ready to light the beacons around the kingdom. Now that tower has been released for pre-order, standing proud upon its hill even as its architecture suggests it could fall at any second.
The Firetower is a rickety old stone beacon tower sat atop a small hill. While not exactly what I would imagine when I think of dwarf architecture, it does rather speak of an out of the way location where all manner of danger might befall. Like the tower collapsing on you.
The top of the tower has been designed so that different options can be used for it, rather than just the beacon. In the above picture, we see it turned into something of a minaret.
The Firetower can be bought as part of a set, along with a small hill base for it to stand upon.
This little hillock can also be bought separately and should provide archers with a superb vantage point.
Personally, I think a piece like Fenris' Firetower is a great addition to a tabletop as it will allow for some cool scenarios, where players must reach the beacon in time to light it and signal for reinforcements.
Can you think of some scenarios using Fenris' tower?

Fenris do a LOT of great stuff… This one, not so much.
I like Fenris Games and I’ve picked up a few of their pieces. But this isn’t one of their better ones. I would imagine this would get completely lost in any kind of decent board. It flies in the face of any fluff regarding Dwarven architecture or building skill and I can’t imagine you’d get much of a signal out of that tiny pit. The minaret version is even worse looking. The only way I think this might work was if it was built into the top of a much larger mountain or the edge of a cliff. Something that… Read more »
Signal?
It is called a Firetower, so it supposedly sends a signal from the burning thingie on top, to be seen from afar. Sadly, this looks more like a used ashtray (complete with grooves and cigarette buds) than anything else. It makes no sense to have the fire in such a contraption anyway : its edge is far too high to be used at that scale, it invariably blocks the top exit of the tower, and it looks far too unstable. And if that tower looks dwarven, I’m the Pope. Luckily, you can apparently have that tower without either the ashtray… Read more »
Thanks for the description! No, I was referring to the title: “Fenris *Single* The Pre-Order Of The Dwarf Firetower”
Oh damn.
And I agree with you on the looks. Although I’m guessing there are only so many architectural objects that use a small amount of resin so it must be hard to design them.
I agree it doesn’t fit my expectations of ‘Dwarven’, but I like the model and see it being used for something slightly different.
Why does it even have a door? If the walls are of normal thickness there’s absolutely no room for a stairs.
