Dwarven Forge Help Build A Mighty City On Kickstarter!
March 9, 2015 by brennon
Dwarven Forge make some amazing modular terrain for the underground labyrinths and complex catacombs of your dungeon delving adventures but they are now on Kickstarter to bring the overworld to life too. See what you think of their City Builder campaign!
The City Builder System is a set of modular pieces that can be provided to you fully painted and then only need assembling, in whatever form you wish, to create hamlets, villagers, towns or even (as the name suggests) full on cities packed with adventure...
As you can see you can make a variety of different buildings and then use the likes of their stone streets and other terrain kits to make fully fortified areas on the tabletop too. You'll be pleased to know that the material they use, which they dub Dwarvenite, is considered nearly indestructible so it should be fine for the foreseeable role-playing future!
This is just one of the basic pledge levels but it not only shows off what you get but gives you a hint as to how these go together. You'll see that there are four post-like components which sit in the corner of the buildings. The walls then slide into the grooves providing a solid fit. From there you can build levels or just cap them off with a simple roof.
What's quite cool about this is that it doesn't just appeal to role-players looking for an overworld adventure but also wargamers who want to make cool modular towns for their skirmish games and more.
The campaign is still going strong and they have plans for an entire underground sewer system if they make it through enough stretch goals and add-ons!
What do you think folks?

I supported both their Dungeon and their Cavern kickstarters, and was extremely happy with both. Sad to say I will most likely have to pass this time… mancave priorities and all. My missus felt so bad for me the last while that yesterday, when she came home, she dropped a Reaper Bones Cthulhu in my lap lol. No idea what I’ll do with it, but it was a lovely gesture. Also, I’m all about making my own buildings and fortifications, and have a lot of that sort of thing on hand, with more in the queue. As for the tiles:… Read more »
nice stuff but it seems way over priced. Imagine what you can can from $ground for the same price
As I stated @nashwyrd, it may seem expensive, but there are goodies attached to each stretch goal, and last time they went far beyond what they needed. It will end up being a mountain of stuff by the end, if past kickstarters are any indication. These folks know what they’re doing
