Bring Some Realism to Your Terrain From Sally 4th
March 27, 2015 by stvitusdancern
Sally 4th has come out with a new terrain option, this time it is what they are calling their "photo-realistic."
In this kit, you get a MDF shell and with a printed exterior. In this first kit, which is a 28mm farm house with an out building has the options to be in either stone, brick or plaster finish.
How about this option, are you pretty handy with kitbashing? Then you can print for free, yes free the exteriors and glue them to your buildings to give it a finished look. They have also made available some kits to finish your building with windows and doors. This looks to be a nice option for those that want quick and easy terrain that still looks good.
What do you think about this kind of kit? Is it an answer to the terrain dilemma?

Ten quid for a photo-realistic add on set that enhances a building sounds terrific. Ten quid for a sticker set that you put on an mdf building then varnish to stop it coming off sounds like more trouble than it’s worth…
Self print and kitbash sounds helpful, but I think I’ll keep marking my own bricks out of polystyrene sheet with a ruler and a pencil.
Inkjets and other home printers use ink that fades after exposure to sunlight, so this might look fine as long as it is done well and kept out of direct sunlight for the rest of its days. Otherwise it will fad, or even worse, some pigments change colour after they’ve had a good dose of light. The idea may appeal to some people but not me I am afraid. They look good, but may not stay that way.
You can buy 8 1/2 x 11 plastic brick textured sheets for a few bucks, and just paint them. They make them for almost any scale. Antenociti carries them.
