The Final Frontier Comes to the Table on New Mats On Kickstarter
July 11, 2014 by deltagamegirl22
While perusing Kickstarter (one of my favorite, new, expensive hobbies), I came upon some really cool new game mats for our space themed games. Spaceship Tactical Combat Play Mats by Richard Knowles of RTK Limited, offer a variety of scenes in different sizes to accomodate 2-4 player games. The 2 player mats are 38x46 inches and the 4 player mats are 74x46 inches.
It's always awesome to build an epic table from scratch, but there is something to be said for quick, easy, and portable- not to mention ease of storage. If your hobby room looks anything like mine, then space (every pun intended) is at a premium and the ability to store things in a compact manner is always desirable.
Will you be making "space" on your tables for these mats?
These mats look gorgeous. My club are looking to replace the mats they use for X-wing and Firestorm Armada. My club’ current mats are starting to look a little tatty now especially the death star one. The three foot by six foot size versions on the kickstarter would be brilliant to play on. I will raise the idea at our next meet.
Sounds great! Good timing too!
Horrible things and a high price for vinyl. The images are to busy for my liking and are just downloaded images from Hubble and probably an illegal use of them due to making a profit from them. A far better option is for these mouse-mat type: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/4thwar/4thwar-equipment-wargaming-tables-returns
Instead of a garish blue and read stripe, they have a nice layout to place all your cards,
That didn’t work, no edit button? For pics of all mats: http://4thwar.com/scenery.html
I think these look great! Currently we just had a black cloth for our table covering for Xwing and Attack Wing. Now after watching the video on how to make asteroids we are looking to create more of a 3d gaming table. These would be a nice addition.
Thanks for sharing!!
The lack of upfront shipping costs, they will be added latter, means that a lot of people will not back this right away. I am waiting until the shipping costs come out before I decide to support it or not.
Also I agree that these maps are a bit busy. What about a basic star field map? I think it would look cool.
