Battle Systems Tease Amazing New Terrain For Kickstarter
May 14, 2019 by brennon
Battle Systems showed off an awesome preview of what is coming very, very soon to Kickstarter. Check out this new Fantasy terrain!
Now that is some amazing looking terrain. All of this is made out of their amazing cardboard material which can be tweaked and changed into all manner of amazing buildings as you can see here. This looks like it would be perfect someone who wants to avoid painting their terrain or fiddling with glue.
I was totally blown away by the detail that has gone into those buildings and there are a few morsels here and there in the background that caught my eye too. You have the tower on the right-hand side of the image and some ruins in the background too.
We can see this being brilliant for role-players and those who want to set up skirmishing tabletops quickly. Combine with this with their dungeons and you have a very dynamic tabletop!
The Kickstarter for this set is due to hit in June so watch this space!

This boys knock it out of the park with everything they do. Looks awesome and will be keeping up my trend of backing all their KS
just amazing
lovely stuff, I will be definitely getting some these
this is looking fantastic.
It looks awesome! I’ll be checking it out but, it’s unlikely i’ll back it (huge customs fees in Canada), or maybe i’ll go for a few addons only…
Their Core Space KS was Canada friendly I believe, so may be worth at least checking with them in that regard.
Yup it was… got all my Core Space stuff with no extra duty charges (they went through Snakes and Latte’s) … This stuff looks amazing!!!
Thanks!, good to know (or not lol)
sweet jesus that is lovely stuff!
Im just surprised @brennon didnt mention using it for Burrows and Badgers.
Its lovely looking stuff
Oh it went through my mind haha
Wow — affordable and “painted”! Even plastic terrain’s expensive, and you still have to paint it. Papercraft is more labor than fun for me. Too bad Teraclips isn’t still around!
They’ve raised the bar yet again. I never ceased to be amazed at the sheer quantity of detail Battle Systems put into their terrain. If you have any doubts about cardstock terrain, then you seriously should try to find somewhere to see this stuff in use. Yes, fully 3d plastic or resin is, well, more 3d, but you’ll be pushed to find anything at any price that looks a patch on this, you really will.
Buy it, you know you want to !
I wonder if they might do a fantasy version of Core Space somewhere down the line (now THERE’S a thought 😀 )
replace the purge with undead and necromancers and you’re pretty much done.
All you need is terrain and a couple of miniatures from the Fantasy Zombicide series …
I think you’d need to do some new trader boards, skill boards, and equipment counters (although I do note BS do blank versions for you to do custom characters). Not sure if you would need to rework some of the skills as the game would be more close combat than before, and over half of the current ones would be classed as “magic” 😀
But yeah it’s not undoable 🙂
Remember : sufficiently advanced tech is like magic 😉
basic pistols and guns would probably best translate to bows, crossbows and slings.
grenades could become single use scrolls with spells that mimic their effects
It’s work, but in theory you wouldn’t need to rebalance anything as you’re using existing stats.
Then add their current dungeon terrain as the basis …
The only real change one could consider is to add more melee focussed skills and gear.
The thing pretty much writes itself. 😀
Oh wow, now they’re some nice bits of terrain!! I don’t think I’m going to be able to avoid this kickstarter ?
Well i for one will be backing it…?
As Battle Systems evolve their terrain into (at least a) third generation product, it’s looking less-and-less like a card based system.
Can’t wait, already got my town mat ready for it!
Looking closer I think I see some manually cut out chunks to break up the edges of the roofs, with some drawn lines matching tile layers – but that’s what you can do with the high quality cardstock they use to take it to the next level!
With Corespace, after fibre-tip penning a couple of the edges in black I came across an ideal Sharpie set with colours that allowed me to match the surface artwork. A little more fussy than the black but boy did it make the scenery ‘pop’ and blend!
I’m all over this kickstarter
