Battle Kiwi Preview The Dark Castle Kit Whilst On Lockdown
April 2, 2020 by brennon
Battle Kiwi might be in a bit of a lockdown situation down in New Zealand right now but that hasn't stopped them previewing a rather epic looking new Star Battle terrain kit. Here we have The Dark Castle which looks like the perfect place for an evil overlord to make their home.
This rather awesome new kit is going to be released when the lockdown ends one would hope and it would be a really nice fit for all manner of Sci-Fi games. I could see this being a temple to the Sith, a conduit for psychic forces in the world of Warhammer 40,000 or a black ops facility within the world of Infinity where a malevolent AI is plotting in the background.
I do like the idea of dropping this into the mix alongside some Clone Wars era games as a place where the Sith have taken hold and are trying to warp and twist The Force. You could then stage a full assault on it with your clone army and Obi-Wan Kenobi!
This piece is themed after an actual location in Star Wars lore. Known as Fortress Vader it is located on the planet of Mustafar, built over an old Sith locus. So, if you want to go all Sauron on your enemies this seems like a good place to make your home
Are you going to be picking up this kit when it releases later this year?

That’s pretty cool!

Nice would look fabulous with electric arcing across the columns.
I think the next step forwards for MDF terrain is when they start making it from “coloured” MDF (I’d expect 4Ground to come up with a chemical way of doing this so the fumes don’t destroy the lasers). Alas no matter how good it is, those bare, burnt MDF edges just aggravate me. Ideally I’d also like to see a picture with the edges painted (but then that’s not what the customer is getting). But also, it looks large, VERY large. I wonder how much table you’d have left once you plop that down (plus storage could be an issue… Read more »
you could crush an Ashoka in that thing
New Zealand… Got love a PM that declares the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy “Essential Services” (ie exempt from the lockdown for business purposes).
… but then I’m biased 😉
The story of the building of Fortress Vader was told in the comics.
It is now available as a trade paperback – Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord Of the Sith Vol. 4 – Fortress Vader
