Bandua Wargames Produce Two New Imperial City Mats
May 24, 2018 by brennon
Bandua Wargames has released two new game mats onto their webstore. Their focus is on an Imperial City with the first showing it off in full, ancient machinery churning away in the background and the second lost in a winter storm.
You can see them all in more detail below, delving into the way the mats have come to life and exploring the detail for each.
The large 6x4 Mats give you a range of places to set up terrain as well as roadways to funnel the action. You can also get another version of this landscape as mentioned above, this time covered in snow and ice from a deadly blizzard.
I think I actually prefer the winter look as the hidden terrain options give you more to do when it comes to deciding where you place particular aspects of your own collection.
What do you think of the new mats?

The winter one is far more versatile IMO, the regular one is a bit specifically 40k with the massive aquila. Both versions it will be easy enough to cover the Sci-fi bits up with scenery, but I think I’d prefer a generic paving texture in place of the brass thing and the metal walkways.
Very true – I think the ability to do more of your own thing with the winter scene makes it stand out more.
Could be fog rather than snow and used for air combat games.
always good to have options.
This is the first time I’ve seen mats done like this. I know different seasons are common, but this is a specific site that is shown through time. It really lends itself to a narrative campaign over time.
