Archon Preview Next Modular Terrain Kickstarter For 2022
December 21, 2021 by brennon
Archon are expanding their collection of Rampart terrain soon with a new Kickstarter launching on 11th January 2022. This continues to build on their range of modular terrain that suits various genres and is simple and easy to assemble.
Rampart Modular Terrain // Archon Studio
Warren has looked at a lot of Archon's terrain over the last while and had some really good fun with what they have to offer. You can see how the kits go together here...
How It Works // Archon Studio
No glue, which is a massive plus. You can (obviously) use glue if you like but the connectors are the key here as they allow you to disassemble your terrain and put it together in different ways when needed. You could make big, sprawling complexes for large boards or cut it down when you play some skirmish games.

You can check out our video on some of the previous releases from Archon Studio below. We used it to make an absolutely immense display table for Warhammer 40,000...
Great For 40K - Rampart: Modular Terrain For Wargaming
As you can see, you can really go mad with this kind of terrain if you really want to. The addition of more vertical elements this time around seems like a solid option too. I like having plenty of height in my wargaming tables to add a sense of drama to proceedings.
New Pledges (Work-In-Progress)
There are four different themes for you to choose from as part of the new campaign when it launches in January.
Terrain Sets // Archon Studio
It breaks down into City, Gothic, Industrial and Tribal allowing you to have a bit of fun with both Sci-Fi and Fantasy tabletops. As well as plenty of bigger terrain pieces, each of the packs also comes with a selection of accessories and such to help theme your terrain to a particular setting or game.
Terrain Sets // Archon Studio
The Cobolt Foundry is an awesome set for those wanting to explore something a little more esoteric. The Kazumi Temple also offers up a great option for those wanting to dive into something a bit more Fantastical in the likes of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. It is all very Seraphon!
New Miniatures
One of the new packs for this collection is the City Defenders collection. This focuses in on thirty new miniatures (vehicles, characters and troopers), that can be used in your Sci-Fi wargames.
City Defenders Collection // Archon Studio
A pretty awesome collection of female troopers to use as alternatives in your grimdark-style wargames on the tabletop. I have to say that I think the Ubermen are the coolest of the lot though! That tank is also on the cards as one of their Stretch Goals.
Make sure to check back nearer the time as we'll no doubt delve deeper into their new Kickstarter and get a better look at it all.
Are you tempted to dive in and check this out?

That is some great looking stuff. Both terrain and miniatures.
The look is cool… but is it 99€ cool? We will see once they put numbers in.
After the whole fiasco with Starcide fell through and the cancellation of Archon’s first Kickstarter, it’s good to FINALLY see their modular terrain and German guard making their appearance!
Thought through system with some neat ideas. Not for me though, I wouldn’t touch it the system is reasonably available in shops. There is no point backing a kickstarter as I haven’t got a clue how much of what bits I would need to build what I wanted. And if it is then hard to get more it becomes pointless. The alternative of buying more than needed as insurance is a non-starter too.
The product is top notch. The Kazumi and Cobalt sets I got during the last Rampart KS are just awesome. I got so much value for the dollar it is insane. The cobalt foundry sets I get make for a truly awesome Industrial table. However, at the new price I would have to say that they are no longer worth it. For $110 you just do not get enough to make anything more the stupid boring war damaged “half” buildings. The older sets at this price just do not cover enough territory. This is just a really odd choice. Added… Read more »
The pledge levels include “free” either the accessories (highlighted yellow in “Easy Vertical Gaming”) or the City Defenders. You may want more floors, which will also be sold as add-ons. We’ll also see how many SG’s Archon includes.
Hesitant due to Archon’s track record but I’m tempted. Mrs SG’s littlun is getting into 40k and some gothic terrain would be a good project for us to do together.
I think I saw the dungeons and lasers stuff out in retail (was it on Wayland? I dunno) so there’s hope there.
any of the options marked as ‘rapid delivery’ (= from their previous kickstarters) is more like buying from a webshop … so waiting is minimal.
The new City set does look good, but the prices are almost double the previous KS and that cost does not include shipping which will not be cheap. If you pledged a single core set it was not much to make anything and the Stretch Goals add very little. I will argue for a Kill Team size table you need a min of 4 core sets plus some structure add-ons. I also love a few of the YouTube influencers they have used with massive builds which someone pointed out in the yt comments that even with the previous KS you… Read more »
If I was still into 40k I’d be all over this! Wish em luck with it mind
it will work for Deathzone too due to the cubic nature of the core components.
So you could play a different game using whatever 40k you’ve still got.
Ooh yeah fantastic looking new terrain guy’s I loved the table you made for the game weekend. The figures look fabulous for gaming is the tank on the Kickstarter campaign?.
Up date yes an the heavy walker are in the Kickstarter campaign.
the tank is from one of their previous kickstarters (which reminds me I need to build it)
the heavy walker and the not Imperial Guards are new.
Noice.
