4Ground Release Wilkins Workshop Blast Trench Terrain
July 14, 2020 by brennon
4Ground has been tinkering away on more coloured terrain elements as part of their Indie Design partnerships. This time around we're looking at the Wilkins Workshop range and the new Blast Trench Gun Pits which come in either Red or Black.
Blast Trench Gun Pit Black // 4Ground
These terrain pieces can be combined with the larger Blast Trench terrain kits from Wilkins Workshop and 4Ground, perfect for creating a well-lain out Sci-Fi battlefield. Because of their basic design, they would work for a variety of different factions and could be tweaked with markings from your chosen faction.

I think of the two colour choices from the collection I prefer red. I think it stands out a little more and works well with the blasted look of the terrain and also provides another spot of colour to draw the eye when you're playing. I think it's also because it would work well to match the sands of Geonosis.
You can also get a look at these Trench Gun Pits which have been set up as defensive positions on the tabletop.

I think that you could either use these in their modular state to provide you with lots of flexibility when building a tabletop or you could drop them into something more permanent, building up a dug-in defensive line which runs across the tabletop as the battle goes on above.

I like the idea of using these trenches with raised areas of terrain so you could set up these defences as if they are vanishing off into the darkness. This means you could provide access points or spawning locations for troops as they rush around the battlefield.
As someone who has really been getting into Star Wars wargaming at the moment, this is a fun set of terrain for creating big sprawling battlefields.
What do you make of these sets?

That’s a basic set if I ever saw one…. but, that being said, they look like they can easily be modified and spiced up….
Three or four would make a good defensive wall for table’s or dotted around for strong points on a city mat.
Kinda meh. 4Ground hasn’t put out any dynamic terrain in a while. I wonder what’s going on?
