4Ground’s New Norman Terrain Now Released [Updated]
December 7, 2021 by brennon
4Ground has been working on some new Historical terrain to release very soon indeed! A new range of Norman Terrain is coming soon for those looking to build up their collection of Medieval terrain for their tabletops.
Norman Terrain // 4Ground
Each of the houses and such in this new collection are going to be customisable in some way to make each of them feel unique. Of course, they all come with removable roof sections which are handy for gameplay and hinged doors (love a moving door in a terrain piece).

They might look cosy but I would warrant that all of these catch light very easily! Perfect for a raid scenario in the likes of The Barons' War perhaps? There are also some more centrepiece-style terrain options in this collection for those wanting to make a statement.
It would be neat to see more large pieces like this for the Norman collection and the folks at 4Ground delivered! We've got the Church and such but it would be cool to see some notable buildings and perhaps some options for those playing as ruffians and renegades in the woods and slums!
What do you make of this new terrain from 4Ground?

More stuff to paint and improve for @panzerkaput 😉
The are nice but I have a resin church to paint 😀
Nice looking terrain.
Sorry not for me….. It might just be my warped imagination, but I’m starting to feel that the standards for a lot of the recent 4Ground releases (and I mean 4Ground, not the people they are “publishing for) have started to slide. If you look at these (even without that powder they’ve taken to daubing over everything), and then look at the High Medieval or Anglo Dane dwellings they are worlds apart. They just don’t seem to take the time for detailing like they used to. And even with these simpler/less detailed kits, they are still charging top dollar (to… Read more »
Completely agree, im looking at these and thinking ‘meh’ its the thatching i think that looks poor, im sure they could be made really good but you’d have to do that work yourself, straight out of the box they do not look great for the price charged.
The quality has definitely been sliding since the bankruptcy of the original 4Ground. Very like due to lack of time and resources on design.
It’s also good to remind everyone that the backers of Legends of the Fabled Realms KS still haven’t received their miniatures and the game. 4Ground has gone completely silent on that, keeps deleting and blocking comments and questions about it on social. It’s not the cool company we used to know and love.
Completely agree, these have lost the impressive wow factor the 4Ground name use to have, and are now just average at best while still being priced at a premium.
The set overall is “ok”, nothing special and if it wasn’t for the price something to maybe consider, but that church just looks poor, very blocky detailing that looks more “toy” like.
They have gone from the recommend to the avoid list for me.
Yup I think the major part is the stone work on the church. it’s WAY oversized (presumably that means it’s quicker to produce) with the stones being the size of a human being. As well as the “dry stone” fitting (where all the stones are irregular) which was never used on Norman church construction during this period (ok I may be rivet counting here). But if you look at the detailing on their earlier church type release you can see they are worlds apart when it comes to the detailing https://www.4groundpublishing.co.uk/St-Michaels-church
