Limited Run Resin Castings For The Others Available From Studio McVey
April 20, 2016 by brennon
Studio McVey are running a line of very limited edition Resin Castings for The Others - 7 Sins. These miniatures will not be restocked once the numbers run out so if you want one of these for your painting collection then you'll have to be quick.
There are already two big bundles where you get all of the appropriate figures for each set. Above you see the Apocalypse Bundle while below you have the Sins Bundle. Both of these contain some stunning miniatures which would be a massive challenge and a privilege to paint.
There are twelve miniatures to choose from and I've picked out three of my favourites below which I'd love to have in my own collection.
A Choice Pick Of Monsters
First up we have the rather brutal looking War.
I think this is a fantastic miniature which really does suit the name. The snarling face, the massive sword and the arm packed with all manner of guns. I could see him laying waste to a world.
Next up we have Gluttony who I had to pick for his weird and warped look. Tentacles are always fun on a model and this has plenty to go around. Painting flesh has always been a sore point for me so seeing someone do it so well here is nice to see.
Last but not least another from the Apocalypse collection with Death.
Death is always fun to see represented in art and they've gone for a very classic look for Death here with the wings, scythe and robe. I just think the amount of detail worked into this figure is fantastic and the skeletal grin from underneath the hood is unnerving!
Check out the webstore and let us know your favourite monstrous creature!

Those look really good.
When I first saw The Others minis over two years back I had hoped they would be high quality metals and resins for a horror-themed skirmish game. We’ve still gone in for the boardgame and have high hopes for it, but I still sorta wish that these resins were the retail minis and there was a skirmish game for them. I considered picking some up at Salute but with no game to use them in (they’d be duplicating content for the boardgame), I wouldn’t wind up doing anything with them.
These look like nice sets just to paint, wouldnt mind using some as monsters or summons for frostgrave either 🙂
I love studio mcvey miniatures but i dont have the spare cash to buy them all but i may pick up war and pride.
They do look nice, but I tend to hate the idea of limited editions as I tend to like a model but end up missing out, unless I’m on the ball. Also I try not to be an impulsive buyer and limited runs only support my habit of buying on impulse.
The sculpts themselves aren’t ltd ed. The regular versions are in plastic and come with the game and its expansions. These are resin casts of those same sculpts and it’s just the resin casts that are ltd ed.
the pvc versions will be in the game sets, and after seeing how Blood Rage came out, I actually have high hopes for the plastic versions being quite nice as well.
and even if you don’t play that game, those are some really good alternative takes on Chaos Greater Daemons (and/or spawn), Lovecraftian horror monsters, or even D&D demons and devils. I certainly will be finding several uses for most of them.
I already have one of the plastic sins. As pre-assembled plastics go they’re very good.
love the war figure.
Nice but way too expensive for my tastes. Cheaper for me to buy boardgames and get them in plastic.
