Let’s Play: Star Wars Legion – Carbonite Cargo
April 20, 2018 by dignity
Gerry and Justin continue the battles of long, long ago in another 800pt game of Star Wars: Legion from Fantasy Flight Games.

During his transport to Tatooine's largest entrepreneur, Jabba, the carbonite-encased thief Han Solo has been momentarily left unguarded, allowing the Rebel scum an opportunity to exfiltrate him.
Whoever is left holding Solo at the end of five rounds will be the victor.
Who else thinks Gerry needs more stormtroopers?

On the comment about whether or not Han and Leia got married in the Disney canon: iirc TFA established that after their son went evil, Han ran off, so either way, maybe Vader’s just having a vision of his future grandson’s deadbeat dad.
And before anyone objects that, recall what the fourth Indiana Jones film did to Indy… And Blade Runner 2049 did to Deckard… Guess it sucks to be a 20th Centurt Harrison Ford character in a 21st Century movie…
When Gerry said “Give Darth a dodge token” I immediately thought ‘Darth Dodger’ for some reason and had the image of Daffy Duck cosplaying as Vader. 😆
Random thought: could the airspeeder have picked Han up (if TS had the chance that is)? I’m imagining it shooting him with the tow cable and then dragging him around and using him like a wreaking ball. 😆
i would love for a Darth Dodger to see the table, of course the Rebels would field disintegrator happy Marvin Calrissian
And an Obi-Buggs Bunn-obi. 😉
Where’s Carbonite Han from ?
Where is the rather cool Solo in Carbonite mini from?
I think the Solo thing came from the old Jabba the Hutt Vehicle that was released many years ago. I think there was one with one of the Millennium Falcons as well
Cheers @torros , i’m off to ebay to have a look around, i imagine they’ll be a bit pricey, so alternatives can always be looked at.
nice.
Should’ve used this for the carbonate slab:

Or are they holding on until a sci-if Burrows & Badgers ruleset comes out? 😉
@lordofuzkulak nice 🙂
@lloyd you’ll have to talk @brenon into running a sci-fi B&B campaign as a series on BoW just so you can use the linked to item. 😉
For those commenting about the Han in Carbonite, there is a free STL file for one on Thingieverse..
I do love star wars and have enjoyed watched Legion video demos when it came out. But i seen to be bored watching them now, maybe its the whole line the forces up short side of the table, then attack, then lack of units. Compare this to say a WW2 game, with the length of a table being used. I don`t know..? I had more fun watching what a tanker then this…. Just my thoughts people…maybe its just me….
Weapon surges are per weapon, so two bikes get Impact 2
Aye spotted that after the game fixed it for the follow up
There is no fighting back in an oppos activation, a unit needs to activate to attack.
I read the Ion rules the same as @dignity , they take away actions and are then discarded 🙂 .
yea, it’s just strange that you remove other active tokens in the end phase but not those ones, just feels strange to me
The way i envisage the effect it has is by looking at The Empire Strikes Back and the escape from Hoth. The electrical discharge means that the pilot / driver / crew has had to almost ” reboot ” the vehicle to get it back into action ( switch it off and on again 😀 ), thereby costing them their in game actions ( at least in my Star Wars nerd brain ). Having said that, there’s always the chance it’ll get changed in an FAQ / errata ?
Standby order token doesn’t get removed either. It is not easy getting an Ion token as you have to actually cause damage unlike just hitting like suppression, and there are not many weapons causing it during a game, so its right and fair that an ion token does not get removed until its had its effect,
Part of it is to justify the use of Ion Weapons. With the starter set only, Ion Weapons would be nearly useless because you just activate your speeders or AT-RT before the opponent activates their troopers.
They effect the units next activation rather than a direct, ongoing effect.
What rule allowed Luke to melee back after Vader’s attack? Presumably you can only perform an attack action in your own activation?
Also could Luke have used his ‘wasted’ free attack from Son of Skywalker to shoot daddy?
Probably net result the same but wanted to check the rules?
Question.. which mat is being used here, would like to see about getting it.
That one I can answer as I have it too! It’s the Sands of Time mat from Gamemat.eu 🙂
Thanks
Another comment, i think that the board looks abit too cluttered. i would remove some barricades, buildings and maybe add some rocks, a hill or dune.
Otherwise, really nice to see it play out. Love the mat.
