Halo: Fleet Battles Coming From Spartan Games This Summer [Updated]
April 21, 2015 by brennon
A new image has popped up online and in the forums thanks to @inhumanbookworm showing off the reveal that Halo: Fleet Battles by Spartan Games will be hitting the tabletop come Summer 2015...
Update: Starter Set Details put this set based around the Fall of Reach (thanks to @darthp00p00 for the update)
"The Halo: Fleet Battles, The Fall of Reach two player battle box is the ultimate way for fans of the Halo Universe to recreate pivotal space battles between the stalwart forces of the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) and the relentless Covenant armada. Developed in close cooperation with 343 Industries, The Fall of Reach puts you at the centre of the most pivotal naval conflict of the long Human-Covenant War, commanding massive fleets of deadly warships as they clash above the fortified human colony of Reach. Take humanity’s last stand to the gaming table!"
The set contains...
- A full colour 100-page rulebook packed full of images and examples
- Fall of Reach campaign guide
- 49 highly-detailed plastic ship models
- 25 custom Halo Dice
- Fleet Commander Data Sheets
- Flight Stands, Overlay Cards Punch-out Scenery, Token sheets, and Quick Guide reference sheets
The set will become available for pre-order later this week over on Spartan Games' website.
Maybe those certain ships will look something like this...
Are you looking forward to this? With the release of Halo 5 and more on the universe coming out via a variety of other media forms this could well be something that gets as big and expansive as the likes of X-Wing.
What do you think?

Clearly what the Halo franschise should be doing is a HeroQuest/Mordheim type game.
They could call it ‘Halo Wars’.
I think it should revolve around them all being anthropomorphic cats for a twist and it could be called ‘Halo Kitty’.
Amazing, a stadium of slowclapping Power Rangers to you Sir.
And if you did 2 more seconds of homework… You’d know that the starter set will be based around the Fall of Reach…

Halo: Fleet Battles delivers an easy to learn, lore-infused, tactically-rich gaming experience that appeals both to experienced wargamers and fans of the Halo Universe.
The Fall of Reach box will be available to pre-order from the Spartan Games Online Store later this week
Thank you for the update @darthp00p00 didn’t see it pop up in my inbox (think it ended up in spam) so was a bit confused as to why there wasn’t any more information out there but thanks for providing it.
Certainly looks like it could be a good set!

That is a lot of industries man.
49 ships! Looks bigger than their standard fleet game starters…
That was my reaction too – “49 ships!?” 🙂
I recall that the models will be in a different scale, so I expect a bucketload of tiny frigates.
It looks nice, although i’m gonna wait to see if my friends are interested in this before i commit. I’ll be watching BOW and follow up on that when it comes out.
I’m still hoping for a 28mm – 32mm skirmish game though!
I think Spartan Games has one in the works for further down the line – early reports were that Spartan would be doing a ship combat game first, followed by a massed army wargame (Planetfall style) and ending up with a skirmish game.
I’ll probably buy the lot :/
Very exciting, but curious to know whether it will be played on a 3′ by 3′ board.
If my X-Wing mat can serve double-duty here, I will be a happy camper.
Any game can be played on 3×3 if you try hard enough. I doubt it’d be specially designed to fit a proprietary table size of a completely different, competing company though.
There is both Fleet Battles AND an un-announced ground combat game. Whether its at 10mm or 28mm is anyones guess… just have to wait till this weekend to see it! 😀
