Ninja Division Announce Relic Knights 2nd Edition
January 26, 2017 by brennon
Ninja Division and Soda Pop Miniatures announced their plans for Relic Knights 2nd Edition this week as we look ahead to some awesome changes on the horizon.
Following on from our themed week it looks like we're set to explore more of the world of Relic Knights as they aim to head to Kickstarter during the last half of February to fund the Relic Knights 2nd Edition Rulebook, the Void Break Expansion Book, and a new Two-Player Starter Set packed with gorgeous miniatures.
On the rules changes...
"The 2nd Edition rules are an evolution and refinement of the Relic Knights 1.5 rules which were released in downloadable form in 2016.
The new rules continue to feature Relic Knights’ unique card-based mechanic where players manage a hand of esper to initiate powerful attacks and actions; as well as the ready queue mechanic where you must carefully plan your units’ order of activation to maximise their potential and impact on the game."
You can find out more about what changes lie ahead in their announcement HERE. Of course, it wouldn't be a new edition without some fancy miniatures to go with it.
Not only are they going to be producing a number of new miniatures for each faction through the Void Break expansion but they will be looking back over the range of miniatures they have already produced to resculpt many of them to meet with their new standards.
A full list of the miniatures that are going through changes, being discontinued and tweaked can be found HERE.
Will you be backing the campaign to see Relic Knights 2nd Edition become a reality?

That sounds good to me.
So much good stuff to come 🙂
Oh well, resolution to cut out miniature Kickstarters in 2017, just been blown out of the water, got to get that two player starter for me lad!
My wife has told me very clearly that I need to get my current RK painted before I’m allowed to get more of them.
I might have a lot to do in the next few weeks.
Few weeks? Seems to me there’s some wiggle room in interpretation there as you won’t get more of the minis until the KS fulfills. Will give you months 😉
After deciding on a late pledge on Kingdom Death Monster in January I am being really strict with myself. I really want to come along the to Hobby Bootcamp and if I’m going to do that, then I need to shut my eyes when it comes to new Kickstarter pledges – but it is tempting I will say that.
Bit odd to run a themed week then this is announced a few days later. I would have thought using the week to promote the upcoming edition would have been a good use of the opportunity.
I think given that the BoW Relic Knights week was filmed months ago it would have been great to have it sooner, and give people time to get into the existing version before they start talking about 2nd Edition. Maybe they didn’t anticipate the huge response they’d get to the BoW week, but there have been a lot of people getting interested in the game. I hope that those who have bought starter sets due to Relic Knights Week look at the detail of this announcement and see that what they have will very much be usable with 2nd Edition,… Read more »
I rather suspect the week was held off precisely until ND were in a position to announce the 2.0 KS. The timing is too close together for it to be a coincidence, especially given how long it’s been since it was filmed. At the time it was filmed there were no plans for 2.0, but presumably that was decided on before the original plan to air it. Bear in mind also that the 2.0 KS was supposed to go live a couple of months ago.
I’m sure you’re right, I just think it was a mistake on Ninja Division’s part. Not a terrible mistake by any means, but not the best timeline for Relic Knights. And maybe that’s easier to see in hindsight than when things were being planned.
I guess this will be my entry into Relic Knights then.
i’m probably going to fall victim to the shinny but i’m going to have to take it real easy after KDM.
other than that i’m over the moon with the idea of the resculpts and can’t wait to see what they produce.
Oh yeah, I’m so ready for this one.
Not interested one bit…
^
totally lying naturally…
Definitely keeping my eyes on this.
When (and where) are the winners from the RK week announced?
I don’t think they have been yet. It’s usually in a Weekender.
Hopefully they take this chance to promote more and grow the playerbase. Last time they just did the kickstarter and expected the backers to be an instant playerbase, and that really never happened.
The models and designs are great, the story is fun, just don’t have anyone to play with locally.
This is a good sign that the game has traction if it’s expanding its range.
