Experience The Grimdark With 28 Volume #1 Launch
March 25, 2019 by brennon
A new e-zine has launched over the last couple of days called 28. This team delve into conversion, storytelling and general hobby goodness surrounding Inq28, AoS28, Necromunda, Inquisimunda and much more besides.

The team behind this magazine have worked very hard to produce something rather special here. All of the artwork, miniature photos, article submissions and more have been handpicked to fit the grimdark aesthetic and it's a pleasure to read. I've only gone through maybe the first few articles but I'm already hooked on this being a source of inspiration.
As I said above, the project focuses in on converting, modelling, building, painting and more, exploring the possibilities of the Games Workshop games that are part of the mainstream and those that sit on the sidelines too. If you ever liked the artwork of people like John Blanche...well, this team are heavily inspired by him!
I encourage you to delve in and read through Volume #1. The magazine is entirely free to snap up so you've got no excuse not to grab it and give it a read. I think it might have already started to get the creative juices flowing, nudging my brain towards interesting modelling projects.
It seems wise to just give a nod to the team involved in this as well. James Sherriff, Alexander Winburg, Ana Polanšćak, Nicolas Grillet, Vince Fiore, Kristian Simonsen, Eric Wier, Gregory Wier, and the mysterious Volitare-28 have done a stunning job on this first issue and I look forward to where they go next.
Let us know what you think of 28!

AoS28? How does that differ from regular AoS? ?
No idea, a new concept to me but it’s certainly a thing – have a read and you might find out!
Edit: However, now I did some research and it sounds cool…

…pretty much storytelling Age Of Sigmar with a handful of miniatures compared to large armies. Uses no defined system but wants you to explore the stories of the downtrodden and the little guy rather than the armies.
Just started reading the mag an it sounds like it’s Inq28 adapted to the AoS setting, similar to how the fan-made ruleset ‘Witch Hunter’ was Inq/Inq28 adapted to the Old World.
This sounds brilliant from the FAQ I’ll download V1 to the PC to see everything.
I love the Inq28 community. The creativity is boundless.
do you know where i can download the ruleset for inq28?
There’s a complete collection I found via search engine. Just try ‘Inquisitor rules’ or ‘Inq28 rules’, you should find it on first page of search results.
Base rules are simply Inquisitor anyway, so you need the rulebook. Movement is just changed from inch per yard to half inch or centimeter per yard.
Its always good to see other peoples work especially if its as good as the pictures in this post.
To give inspiration/ideas.
What I’ve loved the most about 40k over the years is represented in this magazine. Really great work all round. Very inspiring.
This look really interesting judging from the pictures and a first glance across the articles. I will definetely give this a read.
Only skimmed it so far, but very heavy focus on artists and the artwork is very average looking.
I’ll take a look at an article later, but not inspiring at first glance.
Waht an impressive piece of work that it. Stunning. Full of brilliant stuff, including an interview with Ian Miller!
