Code Orange Games Show Off Collision Event Models
October 5, 2016 by brennon
Code Orange Games has shown off some of the new miniatures that will be available during their Kickstarter campaign for Collision and at future events they attend. We kick things off with The Unwanted...
The model in question for them is the Brawler who is armed with two fighting claws. With him, there are no tactics. All he wants to do is hit you hard and as many times as possible in a bloody frenzy. Sounds ace!
Following on from him we have a more measured looking Reclaimer Protector.
He has mastered the use of that large sword of his and can either focus his attention into singularly decapitating blows or swing that blade in a wide arch hitting as many foes as possible. Code Orange did say that any allies in the way would get hit as well so be careful!
New Faction
As well as the new models that you see above Code Orange also showed off the artwork for their third faction, Nyx.
"So the Nyx were born, an elite force of women soldiers. Named after an old goddess of the Night, a goddess presumably feared by even the divine overlord himself, these women follow her example and fight uncompromisingly and preferably in the dark.
The Nyx see violence as a means to their ends, a way to fulfil their dream of a matriarchal Utopia. These women live only to train and fight."
The idea of a speedy and more agile faction certainly works well against the brutish nature of the Unwanted and the 'all-rounders' in the Reclaimers. It will be fun to see how the miniatures come out for these warrior women!
What do you think of their designs?

She isnt gonna be able to shoot straight with that hair in her eye, someone get that woman a scrunchie!
nothing a bit of greenstuff can fix 😉
Hehe just my little joke, I like your designs a lot 🙂
This system is a nice fast sci fiction skirmisher with cool looking minis AND a good rule-system.
I had a demo at SMC in the netherlands and after 2 activictions the rules were working smoothly and we had a really fast action/reaction game going on…cant wait for the beginning of the KS
Thank you. the Scale Model Challenge was grea fun for us and we will really try to be there again next year!
So I read the background on their site, if they really want to portray them as an “empowered all female faction” they managed to invoke all the under-powering stereotypes about women, not been fighters, been weaker than males (and cannot be stronger than males), most too weak to be anything more than slaves in a society that crumbles down. And then only the few who are lucky and strong enouph to get better survive make settlements and decide that the only logical conclusion for a solution is to make a militaristic matriarchal society… Wait, what? And after they spend I… Read more »
Well, going for speed and deciding when they unleash their focused combat tactics is a fair strategy when you opponents focus on long range weapons or brute force with some extra toughness.
Of course the fluff plays with stereotypes, but at least the generel optical design dont play with cheep pin ups elements which would much more be a no-go for me
I think you’ll find irl that males are stronger than females.
By and large though, mammalian females aren’t as big or strong as their male counterparts. So it makes perfect sense that an all female Warrior group might opt for tactics that don’t play to their opponents strengths. It’s not un-empowering to say females are neither as big nor as strong as males because empowerment isn’t really about that. Empowerment is about recognising the different skills and abilities of different people and respecting them. It would be just as easy to argue that a society of very butch women full of ripling muscles and shaven heads was un-empowering because it simply… Read more »
Good points
Yes males are helped by a testosterone boost, but you will find that on average the difference in muscle strength is not that significant. In theory a pure warrior society with all the training they should have might even have a population average that is significantly higher muscle mass than the average male population because of the conditioned training. The background describes women as “been cultural pressed in subservient position, many of them lacking fighting skills, then the background conflicts in describing them as both “casting off the preconceptions of what women can and cannot do” and then “been fully… Read more »
It’s not just a “testosterone boost” as you put it. Males have more muscle mass and denser muscle fibre than females. Males have larger body frames and thus larger skeletal structure, which in addition is denser. Males can produce a more agression due to their hormones than females. Women ARE physically weaker than males. I’m really sorry this bothers you but reality is so very cruel. When you say that “in theory” a female warrior society could produce females who are stronger than other males it makes me think you really didn’t think that statement through. Did it occur to… Read more »
No I thought it quite thorough and do not expect life to be fair. All the above been mentioned the fluff as is described is “females are so much weaker than males there is no point in even contesting, better start avoiding attacks and work on point strikes” it is as bad as it sounds, on average specimens the difference is not that great to give such significant edge in melee combat that the other side must abandon all hope and try another field and I do maintain that a society bend on been warriors would put the extra effort… Read more »
Yes, 10% is a massive gap and it’s a gap that becomes more noticeable the longer an event is. 10% of 100m is 10m. 10% of 1000m is 100m. 10% of a marathon is 2.6 miles. And that’s just running, imaging that 10% difference in unarmed combat. If a male has 10% better endurance and is also dishing out 10% more damage vs a female, that fight is going to be over very quickly. Convert that to soldiering and all of the advantages that the male physique confers, and you’re looking at carrying 10% more equipment, marching 10% further each… Read more »
The difference is incredibly different which is why we still have gender segregated sports. Look at the differences in results between mens and womens events at Rio2016, that gives you some idea of just how pronounced that difference is. In weightlifting the difference is absolutely massive (100kg in similar weight categories). In the 100m sprint the difference between the slowest male finalist and the fastest female was half about half a second which, in what is effectively a 10 second event, amounts to 5%. The winner was of the men’s event was almost 1 second faster, or 10% “better”. That… Read more »
I think this kind of goes to show that when it comes to representing women in games, makers can’t do right for doing wrong.
So true..
Glad you like the look of the concept art an logo!
The idea is that the Nyx know their weaknesses as human beings, they know they won’t win in close combat from the Unwanted. So they have decided to utilize the weaknesses of their opponents.
If you have any tips for us how to make the fluff of the Nyx better please send us a message on Facebook of on our website.
I’d stick with what you want to do. If you change it to suit one persons opinion you only end up pissing someone else off, you can’t please everyone so don’t try. Do what you think works best for the world you imagine and let people decide for themselves.
Very nice.
Hi everyone,
Thank you all for the comments! It is really cool to hear all your ideas and opinions. We try to read everything we can find scattered around the web 😀
Please keep your ideas coming and feel free to shoot us a message at our facebook or website.

Can’t wait for the kickstarter.
I’ve played two demo games a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it. Love that you play with cards instead of dice, it seemed to curb some of the extremes that I tend to see in my dice rolling. 🙂 Minis were awesome and as dennycrane said the rules set is quite intuitive you quickly start playing.
Thank you. I’m really glad you liked it 😀
