I’m afraid it’s going to be another “Zombies!!!” by Twilight Creations.
Im not anti COMON at all but this just seems fishy to me. The game has been in development and is already completed. They claim they are doing it to lower production costs but honestly I just see it as them maximizing profits by pre selling the games before production and getting free advertisement through the kickstarter craze. In my own honest opinion its almost an abuse of kickstarter.
You couldn’t have said it better. For some reason, when I see the name Cool Mini or Not it tend to weary of what they sell.
On the face of it a major company using Kickstarter seems a bit dodgey but I don’t think it’s such a bad thing. It does give them a guarantee that their initial sales will be good enough, and if you think a game is worth investing in you get a little bit back. Either way I don’t see it as immoral.
Interesting to see that their goal has been reached with nearly a month to go.
VERY surprised at the negativity towards CMON and Guillotine Games utilising kickstarter to fund a larger print run.. Seemed a very smart move to me.
This is obviously a product that boardgamers want. I’ve been following the snippets of info about this game the last few months with interest.
Happy to see that a couple hundred people already pledged and some very generous ones will be getting painted copies and their face on a miniature in a future expansion. You can’t buy that in the shop so kickstarter is pretty cool imho.
I have no problem with them releasing any game they wish, but the way I see kickstarter is for little unknown people or low income projects to get them a chance at have the whatever it be hit the market. In my view it’s like seeing GW use kickstarter, it’s just not the right for big names to use it. As for my view of CMON I don’t know why, I just don’t like that website.
Curious.
Well I heard one of the owners of CMON was the owner of New Wave. I agree with manpug, kickstarter should be for indie projects, CMON has the capitol to create this game, they are just trying to boost sales with lazy marketing.
I’m really not sure how i feel about this… I’m excited about this game; but I’m also not sure I like the whole kickstarter thing…
Don’t forget CMON is maybe a Big Fish but ours is a very small Pond – Aside from the one Really big shark in the pond
Keep in mind that CMON is not only an online store but also a distributor and a publisher. They are what kickstarter is meant to.. not replace but give an option too. Now I dont know if CMON contacted guillotine games to make the Zombiecide for them or if guillotine games contacted CMON to publish the game, to reduce the cost for production and distribution. If its the former its just shady that they are using crowd sourced funding. If its the later then its just a slap in the face to the kickstarter community. Also this game was being… Read more »
I’m certain it was the later. You are 100% correct just using cheap, practically free, lazy marketing.
Will you be able to get this in the uk? if not atm when?
