Sorry folks!
Hero quest is not up just yet, I saw the takeover on here before filming and didn’t spot the coming soon bit! Duh!
I’m getting impatient for this now lol!
Lol you had me worried about missing the start of the kickstarter there
Happy Sunday XLBS!
Thread for Backstagers meet up 🙂

Happy Sunday!!!!
BoW suffers from the same problem many other sites do: once it’s off the front page, it’s gone. There is no easy way to find older news articles and especially the discussions related to them.
At the bottom of the main news, there’s a “Previous Entries” link you can use to find older stuff. There are also the game logos right at the top to go to news for each game (e.g. here’s the Kings of War page http://www.beastsofwar.com/kings-of-war/ )
HTH
Yup and were gonna make it better over the next few weeks 🙂
I have added a little piece of experimental code to the site in the right hand bar, to let you browse through the stories from the last 7 days.
Let me know if you think its worth keeping!
That’s pretty smart, if like me you only check the site every other day or so, tis handy being able to see if you have missed anything with a simple click.
Warren you will be very pleased to hear that one of the release models is Gustave Eiffel in a one person version of the spider from wild wild west. It was one of the items which grabbed me about the world when I saw the Kick starter.

Gratuitous Bravestar reference! Love it!
Hi Warren if you want Arnie and his team from the first film then take a look at Rogue Minitures “Dogs of War” set of figures.
Thanks for this!

If you do build that AvP jungle board you’ve got to film it all, so we can see the work in progress step by step. I might look into building my own Terrain for the game, but based on the first AvP movie, setting the game in the predator pyramid, and having the walls shift about each turn, changing the layout of the board so the players have to keep adapting their strategy.
I think filming it is a great idea!
I sense a project for the new year 🙂
Anyone have any idea when Heroquest goes live yet? I’m kind of foaming at the mouth waiting here!
@Warren, have you thought about using FOW: Tour of Duty minis for your Predator game? It would cut down on the board size for a start, and has all the Choppers you need! I think Pendraken do Aliens and Predators in the right scale too, though I may be wrong…
I like the idea of a card-driven game- maybe have a different deck each for Humans, Preds and Aliens? Roll a D6 to hit Predators needing 6s, or use a D12 for Ol’ Painless!
Prodos guys said during the Q&A that unfortunately they don’t have licence for “named” characters, so no Arnies or Ripleys. But agree, WHERE THE HELL IS MY APC?! 🙂
That’s the first thing that crossed my mind when the discussion started. Licenses tend to be awfully specific in what they cover.
Yea, lets have predators and aliens running around wild west saloons powered by strange substances.
I’d love to go to Nottingham but can’t because live nowhere near it.:(.
Westworld is a movie adaptation of a book by Michael Crichton who basically just recycled the plot when he wrote Jurassic Park.
I just have to show you this amazing table build for Wild West Exodus by master craftsman Rob Hawkins: http://robhawkinshobby.blogspot.de/p/wild-west-exodus-town.html
Does the video futz up around the 13 minute mark for anyone else? The screen just green
No, maybe you had some issues with your internet connection?
it is just too bad that prodoss have said that they dont have the license for any of the actual movie character liknesses. No Arnold, No Jesse Ventura…no Ripley no newt no bishop.., juist the monsters and generic humans
Good thing we got our sediton wars “Ridley” and “Ramirez”. Just hope they are not too far off size wise.
Some X Wing content following learning to play with the new stuff that comes in with a new Wave would be pretty awesome.
Scratch that. Very awesome. Always love more X Wing content.
That WWX novel is written by Craig Gallant, he’s one of the guys who does the D6 Generation podcasts if anyone has listened to them, he has also, I think, written the wwx comic book run.
Westworld is great, stars Yul Brynner as the mad robot.
A couple of ideas on the Predator war game:- 1. You’ve got to include the attack on the guerrilla camp, including all the naff lines, such as stick around. 2. Include a morale/ awareness system. At the start of the game, the Merced are confident, but totally a aware of what the predator is capable of. As members get killed, clues can be left(draw of a card) which give clues to how the alien fights. This can be bonuses in targeting/ wounding the predator. However, the more members in the party killed, has a negative ability on movement, panic etc… Read more »
Any possibility of a Deadzone Cadet series similar to Dreadball Academy?
Deadzone, Malifaux and WWE need their own series!
Warren, did you just say that you wanted an army of monster marching out of your…
Probably wasn’t the first time 😛
Love the idea of the AVP jungle board. I think the aquarium plants work well because they are flexible enough to move models through. Ruined buildings with creepers also look good and swamps and tracks. Here is a swamp board i knocked up for Malifaux gaming last year that might give you a few ideas, though it probably not as dense as you are thinking of.
http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?29265-Forests-and-Swamp-Board
Hope you do the project – and maybe a build video of it…?
Could we play some Malifaux on Vassal virtual tabletop with you guys ? Maybe you could do something similar to XCOM…
Painting competitions! I’m all for painting competitions and the ideas are stacking.
Warren, did you have a Amiga 500, and upgrade it to have a full 1 meg of Ram. I found a friends Amiga 500+ had an exact 1 Meg of ram, which meant it technically could not run certain games design for 1032 bites. Very weird. I had a few games for mine I actually had to turn off the ram upgrade.
We did have a 500 and later a 1200 (one of the early ones as i think they had a BIOS upgrade a bit later on)
We even had a 50MB hardrive on the 1200 I believe lol
The one game I remember us having real problems with was RUBICON, we always wanted to play that, and never ever got it to work 🙁
All this talk is making me want to go out and get an Amiga emulator now lol
Did you ever get any of the Amiga Basic programming books to code up ‘games’?
I gave it go a few times, and it was OK (this would be when I was like 8 I guess since I had the Amiga 500 ‘Screen Gems’ box). I never got as far as making anything using Bobs (rather than sprites) as that was getting really hard. But I did make a level for Worms using Amiga Deluxe Paint.
Now Cannon Fodder – that was a game!
