The Weekender: Battleboxes & Legendary Leviathans
May 18, 2013 by dignity
Another week of awesome tabletop fun has been and gone and this we'll be taking a closer look at a few of the things that happened a little closer. First up is the new Battlebox & Beyond series which will help you expand those Warmahorde forces.
As well as that we'll be discussing the great chat that Warren had with both Jake Thornton and James M. Hewitt about the Deadzone Kickstarter and what's to come from that.
Also the first few miniatures for Convergence of Cyriss have appeared thanks to Privateer Press and we'll be trying to hold off the shiny syndrome concerning those!

Have a great weekend!
no video?
Fixed now!
Good man, Stu. I always had you pegged as a fellow Amiga owner 😉
Tips and tactics for Tau? Truly tempting and tantalisingly terrific!
I think the format works best with three people (with no offence intended to any individual person in the video, all were great). Unless the fourth person is there for a specific reason then someone tends to get a bit lost amongst the chatter when there’s four.
the deadzone terrain sounds a bit like plastic terraclips from wyrd and worldworks
Only in the sense that they’re both modular and clip together. Terraclips have more variety but are much less sturdy and more time consuming to put together.
A wire OUTSIDE your jumper? [ragecancels Backstage membership]
PMSL @ Stu; ‘A rebellion of various races allied against a human galactic empire – no idea where they got that from’
Well, for the first time ever a video I couldnt watch.
I got 10 seconds in and noticed Stu had his mic cable outside his shirt, I was so incensed I turned the video off. No wonder it carries a parental warning on the masthead.
I’m not sure I’ll ever recover, but I sincerely hope he fixes it for the XLBS.
(Did I do it right?)
Can’t see XLBS yet. Obviously Stu had a bit of trouble fitting Mike up his jumper…..
So far that’s ~5 hours of wardrobe malfunction. How many jumpers are you wearing, Stu?
It’s ironic that you mentioned about the stitch counters in the gaming community. One of the main reasons I stay away from one local store that plays FoW is for that exact reason. The FoW guys seem to give off an air of superiority due to the level of knowledge they have with that time period. I still recall two guys having a very heated argument about the color of the uniforms one of them painted his army. As for me, I came with primed minis as I was new. I constantly felt the cold shoulder from them and said… Read more »
That’s sad to hear though I think it’s symptomatic of the type of people they are than of historical gaming. If you dig out the thread on GW ending open gaming in their stores you’ll see many similar stories of people being put off gaming there by the attitude of the veterans.
Sad indeed. The fact that FoW’s setting is based on history is completely irrelevant. Those elitists at your local shop are not re-enacting WWII. They’re playing with toy soldiers, the same as we all are. FoW is a fantasy wargame, same as WH40k, WfB, KoW, Bolt Action, anything you care to mention.
Don’t worry about the mistakes it happens to everyone. GW doesn’t even always get the rules right and they are the one who write the rule book.
Agreed- the quick play guide in Dark Vengeance has an interesting spin on how leadership tests are made…
Is it just me or is Justin starting to look a bit beaver looking?

Google search Narnia beaver.
The world needs a Gundam (they mentioned Gundam for a couple of seconds in the episode, so its relevant!) miniature game where you can use the 1/144 kits from Bandai…
I would be all over that. I’ve got a dozen of those models in storage somewhere.
That was all going so well, relaxed, interesting, informative…. Then that daft bas%*#d Stu had to go and spoil it by being so bloody unprofessional. Seriously guys….? I am currently drafting a letter to my MP.
prize form entered. very excited to get playing. great show guys and thank you for the prize. always enjoy the weekender.
and yes stu i am on dakkdakka under the same username. also started a youtube channel first videos are badly filmed on a iphone 4. put i guess they will only get better with time (and i have a video camera now) bigcaesarminis on you tube if any ones interested. any support would be greatly appreciated.
Thought I recognised the name – can’t be too many with it! Like the shows about thrifty gaming. Subscribed!
thanks very much 🙂
Would love to see more Infinity videos. Faction talks and what not. Think it would be great.
Justin goes rebel just because he is a Leather Rebel 😛
as always a great video and think it’s great how the whole crew at BOW stick together keep it up and may you bring us and yourselves much more joy!
Enjoyable weekender, Glad to know that you are all mostly human.
Great episode guys! 🙂
I would have to also concur with Gav that the Imperial fighters would be just his style, as those Ties will go great with his cuff links. hehe 😀
You’re welcome see ya :o)
I want warren back . he needs a foot massage.
