Footsoldiers of the Corporate Machine… Sneak Preview!
September 18, 2011 by beerogre
You may have thought they were simply the faceless legions of the Corporation, we'll no longer.
Here's a sneak peak at the concept art for the Corporation Trooper direct from Mantic HQ...
So who's ready to join the winning team?

Heres hoping the minis are coming soon- I can see these being useable for many games, not just WP
Sign me up for corp – once I’ve got some forge fathers done…
They do look like they’ll have lots of uses. Hmmm…
Give us a female Corp trooper plastic kit too instead of another sausagefest, and I’ll buy them.
Some concept art:

traditionally, even today the armed forces are mostly male, and females are rarely in ‘front line’ roles, its not being sexist, its 11 years experience in the forces. unless the corporation is going to have a playable admin and chef division
Have a word with the vets from the USSR 39-45, the Israeli forces and many modern militia
Most troopers are male its true but females should be available
I get enough of that nonsense from historicals, thanks. This is a sci-fi game. If you can suspend your disbelief for FTL, space zombies and laser guns, a society that doesn’t discriminate against its women and permits them to serve on the front lines should be child’s play.
On the topic of the official concept art, please, don’t use the oversized power fist. The sleek bionic arm/gauntlets on the left look far better.
A female kit would be awesome!
If it was available for Imperial Guard (or compatible figures) i might just start an IG army just for the novelty of having a bitchin’ cool female squad leader or even entire squad.
Preferably the models should be clearly female. Not in the classic fantasy way where the clothes are smaller than the price tags, just make them stand out even from a slight distance. The Israeli commandos from Y – The Last Man would be a good start.
I can’t really see what difference female soldiers would make. If it’s the same unit, in the same uniform with the same equipment, then how is it different enough to justify a second mold?
If they are significantly different from their male counterparts, then why, are they their own unit, or is there something special about them that isn’t their tits?
I have a hard time understanding why some people want female soldiers, epecially when they’re going to be virtually indistinguishable from the men from our vantage point 2+ feet above the table.
if this was bgg I would post a link to a certain game right about now
Do you act like this every time anyone suggests making a /male/ model?
Nobody really suggests making models specifically male, it’s just assumed that miniatures representing soldiers will be male since that is the norm for soldiers. It’s the logical choice.
I just don’t get what would be special or different about female models if they’re the same unit, with the same rules. I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea, I just don’t see why it’s something people specifically want to see happen; like how it would make a difference.
Apart from my personal preferences… One, I want plastic manufacturers to get out of the rut of past releases. To me a female corp trooper kit is better than a male corp trooper kit because another male sci-fi infantry kit does less to expand the breadth of models available than the first female sci-fi infantry kit would. Two, it’s a sci-fi game, and I’d rather petty, offensive politics like “women can’t be soldiers” was left to rot instead of being stuck in there just because people today suck. I’d feel the same way if the fluff made explicit mention that… Read more »
I 100% agree. I actually think it’s strange and weird that so many seem to be obsessed with having female soldiers miniatures. Oh and Israel HAS to use female soldiers, not through choice but through force of situation, the same way Russia has to use female soldiers during WW2 against Germany and the Nazis. No one ever wants to put females on the frontline, even if they make great fighters. They’re too precious for a species. Read Heinlein and Starship Troopers (the movie only had female soldiers in so you it could show some nudity). You’ve basically nailed it bombkangaroo,… Read more »
Probably the most sexist comment i’ve ever read, gz. Actually, Israel only uses female soldiers in close combat units on an experimental basis but several other countries allow females in combat units. Female soldiers go way back, although not always officially or as separate regiments. This one i just have to frame and put on the wall. I love Starship Troopers, it’s a very interesting piece on philosophy. But you can’t seriously suggest that a book written in the 50’s, which is pretty much just a basic sci-fi story wrapped around Heinlein’s political ideas, is any kind of proof that… Read more »
Nothing wrong with wanting to “paint” boobs, but uh, that’s a conversation for another website entirely…
It’s called novelty. My computer must be acting up because I clearly see “[…]just make them stand out even from a slight distance.” which you obviously don’t. Or perhaps I should get glasses. Most of my squads would look pretty dull if they only contained a single mold with a single stance, which incidentally would also be identical to every other squad of the same unit type. But hey, if you want that, be my guest. But what I want are some cool looking models that make my squads stand out as unique and not just some cheap carbon copy… Read more »
If you’re interested, that Striking Scorpion you mentioned is made and sold by Chapterhouse Studios.
I can’t seem to reply directly to your message alex. Some kind of limit to the depth of answers in a thread.
That is not the model in question, although it’s very nice. I can’t find a picture of the one I’m talking about. It was probably some kind of custom job.
Cheers
Yes, we need a female trooper. Otherwise the Corporation is starting to look the best in Warpath line.
looks very nice, the little details like control pad are a nice touch, but as soon as i read “las-gun holster” i could not help but tut.
Looks promising. I would also love to see female troopers. Lets face it, there is not enough those. Its funny how even mighty GW has not done those even if in background there is also women in IG. Not in all of them but for example Cadian Shocktroopers have both men and women serving among them.
1 in 4 as a female trooper would be neat, and give the force a modern integrated feel like starship troopers(the movie) and aliens. So far i really like where the concept isart is going for the corps. I love the bottom laser pistol design and the robotic arms/energy fist options. I like the helmet design for the most part, the forehead plate bit looks a bit odd and greatly reminds me of a similar design gw/forgeworld has done. Would be nice to see a sci-fi helmet in a plastic kit thats somewhat clean for a change. overall i like… Read more »
“1 in 4 as a female trooper would be neat, and give the force a modern integrated feel like starship troopers(the movie) and aliens.”
Being outnumbered 3 to 1 isn’t my idea of “integrated”. I want a sprue of each. It means everybody can make the army they want, whether they want an all-male army, an all-female army, or anything in between. It’s hard to imagine the sci-fi Humans not being popular enough to support an extra sprue and the resulting increased variety of options.
vasquez have you ever been mistaken for a man?
no have you?
I think the ‘forehead plate’ is a visor
When I become supreme archdictator general of the imperial kingdom of earth, any and all references to the oozing, blasphemous pile of goat c**p that is Hollywoods rendition of Starship Troopers will be punishable by death. By spoon.
Liking the whole range to date – have we seen any concept art for Corp. vehicles yet?
If the figures look any thing like that I will be happy.
Agreed
Agree although I hope for kneeling and running poses as well
Yup. Variant poses would be cool.
Nice.
Elysian drop troops without the forgeworld tax.
Got to be a good thing.
Hehe. Forgeworld tax… I have to remember that.
Well the imperium wasnt the 8th race, but they were something!
like the others said, id love to see some female heads and torsos on the sprues
im not asking for major cleavage showing like infinity, just enough to where we know its a female
They may all be neutral sex clones….
seem like a nice sketch for the Corp. 🙂 I would like to see both male and female models as I truly believe that it would mix up the models quite a bit. I am not saying whether it’s for the Corp to get their Equal Opportunities employer certificate or not. Just to mix up the models is all and give a little variation. If you want to make women’s activists groups your welcome and if you want to keep all the female models on their sprue’s for safety of the human race so be it, although I would keep… Read more »
Females _reproducing_ on their own.. Are you saying you like watching shemale pr0n?
Or some kind of mad scientist version of discovery channel? 😛
I am wondering if we’re gonna see “power armour” humans. Not like 40K, but more along the lines of various pc games, like Starcraft. Not full suits of armour, but extra-armoured veteran sorts? Oh, seeing as people are moaning about no females, can i also moan about there not being any asian corp troopers? Or Mexicans, while we’re at it, or African, it’s always European facial features on these models! And transvestite corp troopers would be great also. Also can you insert some female orks into the plastic ork trooper sprues. And female forgefathers. Just to be consistent. I know… Read more »
As long as they don’t look like caricatures, I’m fully in favour of a variety of heads being available. The reason I go on about female soldiers in particular is because it’s much closer to a binary state, and requires a full new body to look good.
Cadia Storm Troopers would fit that bill pretty good i think. Besides missing the whole point of the female-debate your comment also raises a few questions. 1. How exactly can’t you paint regular figures to look Asian or Mexican? Do they have any distinguishing features that a 25mm model with a 3mm head is able to show? 2. My in-depth knowledge of transvestites is not all that good but i gather that the only difference from us non-transvestites are what’s between their legs before the final operation. Or are you referring to a sort of drag-queen look? Because i think… Read more »
This is the army I’m most likely to collect I think, as long as the minis meet the concept. Lots of opportunities for painting camo! As for females.. I don’t see how its important, but it would add a little variety to the models. Maybe make them all hard-assed Latino chicas like in the movies. 😀 Or keep them for pilots, they already have front line female pilots in the RAF. Alexholker has a point, Orx are ok, Space-Dwarves are fine, Frikkin layzer beams are perfectly reasonable, and you can swallow spacecraft that quite literally kerbstomp physics. But you better… Read more »
Hermaphrodite legions next?
Myself, I fancy good looking troops of any gender. The drawings provided seem a bit distorted or at least that glove is way too bulky and I hope the actual troops do not reflect that. Being Mantics first human army it’ll most likely be their best seller. Humans, if done correctly, always draw the most fans in.
Now can we get some space vampires? That would be unique.
I’m with you on the space hermaphrodites. This will please everyone as every model can be left side male and right side female.
But really, I can’t believe a topic about a great concept art has turned into a wish list begging session. After looking at mantic’s plastic orx I feel confident to say variety is not priority one for them. They will all be men and if they do make females I will be truly surprised.
All I’m saying is don’t put your hope to high as mantic can only do so much. Their just starting out for heaven’s sake.
Theres a bit of classic imperial guard over this one, really like the helmet types
This i lookin to be really cool …
Really liking the look of these guys. Look like a cross between modern day soldiers and a future super soldier. Akin to Aliens rather than 40k. I really like the look of both the Power & Energy Fists! Also the weapons look nice as does the overall feel of the combat fatigues & armour. Can’t wait to see one of these guys painted up.
Female troops, cool idea! I like it! I’ll play with them, I mean play them! Hoo-ahhh!
