Have that Tervigon with adrenal glands and toxin sacs within range and spawning gaunts and all of a sudden the nudeist 5pt gaunts have furious charge and poison (4+) so (on the charge) s4 i5 wounding always on 4 with re-rolls if they are for example against a marine troop or trooper with lower toughness.
When I still played Tyranids I loved using gaunts to tie up big shooter units so my genestealers could move about unhindered. Gaunts tie them up, genestealers charge in later for the kill.
I once had a unit of fearless Hormagaunts on an objective, went to ground, and survived shooting and stayed winning me the game
i love turning this tactic against my friend who plays imperial guard gun lines. rows of shooty infantry. thing is, he gets stuck with a model I’ve dubbed wolf priest Leonidas. a wolf priest with saga of the warrior born. it takes a bit, but i build my kills per turn, and if i get lucky, combat ends on his turn with my priest having killed ten dudes. this means that i get ten extra attacks when my priest attacks on my turn. i love glassing three or so infantry squads with the one guy. soooo much fun.
