The table looked good before, but all that work is showing to be worth it. This is a table I’d love to get a game on, but am glad I don’t have to store it at my house!
That’s a great looking table!
The Warzone table is looking superb, and the effort going into the restoration (or perhaps..heh resurrection) is absolutely paying off. I just hope that whatever minis Rob brings over are based on the Secret Weapon Trenchworks and / or Blasted Wetlands bases because they would blend in perfectly!
I just hope the Warzone International in May will have tables like this because I just signed up for my first ever tournament 😉
Looking great, dark and gritty. I’m looking forward to seeing some games on this board.
shame you can’t get those ruins anymore, always regretted not picking some up – especially now that my bro has been bitten by the 40k bug again. Picked up a load of the old Warzone plastics for use as 40k Imperial Guard but have to admit, prospect of Warzone coverage has got me interested…
It’s really looking great, guys. Can’t wait to see the finished project.
A beautiful table for the future show on Warzone.
you inspire us thanks!
What if you clear coated those plaster blocks? Would that work on the chalkiness? Just an idea.
Possibly though I think resin is still quicker 🙂
PVA mixed in with the plaster should stop the chalkyness @warzan
was thinking the same idea dave
Me too! 🙂
Try Crystacal R when you have some time spare mate, I think you’ll like it.
Why not use the chalky rubble, glueing them into rubble piles and spray coating them with matte varnishe?
amazing table if you are going to put varnish in the depressions you can get an old/broken skeleton to add some casualties never recovered from other battles? the PVA should bond the plaster to a more solid form preventing the powdering.
NOOOOOOOOO Don’t use resin on Hirst molds! The resin attacks the silicone of the molds and will ruin them after one or two casts.
Typically chalky stuff is caused by either substandard plaster or too little water in your mix. I would suggest Dental Plaster, particularly Merlin’s Magic though I’m not sure that it’s cost effective to get it shipped to Ireland.
EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Great revamp on the table. Looking forward to future videos. Thanks crew
Looks awesome! Makes me have to resist the shiny syndrome to start a new 40k table! Must. Finish. Current. Projects. Argh.
I want a table like that one! I have no room for it, I have no time make it, very little time to actually use it. I still want one.
It looks awesome guys.
That table is looking awesome, looking forward to seeing it finished 🙂
Great table I love it even more. Curious why you went resin on the Hirst molds. I use dental stone; which is heavier, but is really tough and takes paint well.
I cant wait warzone week!!!!
Great looking table, and a really good balance between explaining how to create it and keeping it short & straightforward.
Also, I like the idea of continually updating tables (or at least doing so every few years). Parallels neatly with how cities evolve in real life.
Hey Warren, what exact material do you use for the mold? Might be a good idea for a show as well.
