Those smaller vehicles might have taken a hit in 6th Edition 40K. However, if you're stuck with them, is there a way to squeeze some tactical advantage out of them?

Darrell, I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the ultimate 6th ed tank tactic: flat out!
1. Take a squad of say: 10 grey hunters with 2 plasmaguns on foot
2. Move the guys up.
3. Shoot them
4. Flat out a rhino (sideways) in front of them so the enemy can’t see them
You can use the same trick with the pred
1. Move pred
2. Fire all his weapons
3. Flat out the rhino in front of him!
See, you don’t have to put the rhino litteraly in front, you can just flat out!
darrel you are wrong about the searchlight
you can only illuminate a target within 36″ so the hunterkiller tactic doesn’t work!
it would also be handy to look up all the aspects of the rules you are going to make a video about, not just half and guess the other half
i did not ment to be rude, but it would help not getting these debates
Strictly speaking you can go over 36″ if the weapon you used to originally hit the target scattered on to it.
Darrell is right about the search light once you have lit the target up everyone can see the target and the vehicle with the searchlight for the rest of that turn regardless of how far away they are.
no actually you can’t
it can iluminate its target!
the target is the one you aim to shoot, not what you have shot
The point is that your expendable searchlight can move to within 36″ to light it up, and the things that are behind it which NORMALLY would be out of range could now see and fire at it without penalty.
Yes, +1 to this: Night Fighting doesn’t let you target anything more than 36″ away.
Apart from nightfighting, you got a few things wrong with that cover saves for vehicles (page 75 rulebook) If you cannot see the closest armor section of a vehicle, the cover save does not automatically shift to 3+. It just improves by one, so it would have been 4+ in your example if the front would have been not visible for the attacker. The Turret does count as part of the hull (page 73), so if you can see the front of the turret, the front is in line of sight. In the example, the predator would have had a… Read more »
Better read page 75 again in the example shown with pictures the Rhino gets a
4+ cover save for having more than 25% of its front covered
and an extra +1 for having all of the front face hidden but another face still visible
making a 3+ cover.
I’d say the predator would get a 4+ for having just the turret showing.
The p.75 example is getting cover from ruins, which are 4+ cover. The example in the video is getting cover from another vehicle, which is 5+ cover. Being able to see the turret is enough (guns don’t count, but the turret does), so the Predator doesn’t get the +1 angled shot bonus – so it’s just a 5+ cover save (which is better than nothing).
All of this rules mongering…. Regardless, if half of what he is saying about vehicle movement is true it sucks. Those rules just aren’t fun to me. Especially the rules about only being able to fire one weapon after moving six and only being able to fire one weapon with full stats. With those rules you might as well save the points and buy more infantry. Tanks were probably my favorite part of 40k. I’m willing to bet that marine armies are going to be using Guard heavy tank lines more and more. I’ll bet the rules say you can’t… Read more »
Kind of agree. Wish you could still fire defense weapons with full bs after moving 6″. But atleast you can fire those sponson las cannon/heavy bolter snap shots from Predators. The whole rhino meat shield tactic seems like such an unrealistic cheese tactic that, sorry to say, I would probably use.
