Valkyrie Concept and Mould Process from Defiance Games
November 7, 2011 by beerogre
Defiance Games are a new company set to produce some cool new sci-fi models for their game Alien Wars.
Check out the concept art for the upcoming Valkyrie models and a wireframe of the mould that will produce their first range of sci-fi troopers.
The concepts look awsome, looking forward to these to see were the range goes after the US and German forces.
It’s rare to see a wire frame of a mold. It really helps me to understand how complex making a mold is and that I for one should give more respect to all designers of molds.
defiance games is an offshoot from wargames factory. I dont know all the ins and outs but I think its the guy who designed their shocktroopers (theres a BoW vid on it) owns defiance games after the drama going in wargames factory about change of owners.
demyse: Defiance Games was started by the guys who started Wargames Factory after that company was victim of a hostile takeover by their Chinese manufacturer. The Chinese then dissolved the US LLC without any of the owners knowing about it and high-tailed it back to China with the moulds where it’s now Wargames Factory Hong Kong Limited. All the Wargames Factory products on the market are actually being sold illegally since Tim Barry, the original Wargames Factory sculptor – and now the sculptor for Defiance Games – owns the copyrights for all the WF sculpture and they are selling it… Read more »
cheers for that, I didnt know the whole story, but whatever the outcome im looking forward to see what these guys put out next, kinda puts me in a moral dilemma as I want to buy the shocktroopers
Really look forward to these hitting the gaming tables sometime soon.
So far all the concept artwork I have seen is pure win and this latest UNF preview is definately of the same calibre; the German forces in particular are stunning.
I’ll be watching for more of this range and game system with interest.
I like how things are shaping up with Defiance but there is a bittersweet element – most people won’t be buying the upcoming Marines for their own game but instead for cheap IG like Warpath Corporation troopers (now that anything that isn’t a push-fit model is nearly £2 each).
The other side of this is the fact that new companies like Defiance can grow, not to mention those with smaller hobby budgets who can join gaming groups with armies more easily and grow the community.
