Andy and Darrell take a look at the Tyranid Army list submitted by @bitingsquirrel0, one of the hundreds of fans who have sent in army lists to try to get on the new Enlisted show.
What do you guys think? How would you change this list to make it tougher and more effective?
Remember, you can send us an army list for ANY of the games we cover and we'll try to get it on the show, but be warned! There have been so many submissions that it's going to take some time getting through them, so only the best (or worst) will be getting on the show!
You can send your lists to [email protected]

ricks gunna love that his list has got a video up about it. now i’m gunna have to put up with the bragging 🙂
well i suppose now he might put up a fight for a change.
toxin sacs they let u rerole to wound when ur strenght equals the toughness or beat it
I’d realised, spotted it as soon as he said it.
lucky rick .. wonder if he knows yet
probably not
Why no Trygon/Mawloc, Raveners, Biovore/Pyrovore, Venomthrope or Lictors ?
Minis too expensive in points or cash, no good in the game etc etc
to expensive money wise atm
I think that the rules should state that you have to have the doom or your not allowed to play lol. Have to have him always..
The lack of invul in this codex really puts the hurt. All those warriors will get vaporized by anything Str8 or higher.
I don’t know, I think the Nid Codex is one of the most complex out there, it’s nearly epic but the costs of things, especially Carnifex’s, prohibit it. There are so many builds you can do. Sadly all the big beasties I’d like to put in an army GW don’t make the models for.
For me Venomthropes are key – 5++ to shooting, defensive grenades and making any assaulting infantry make a dangerous terrain test to all friendly units within 6” is pretty good.
Synapse isn’t a problem if you take 5 Tervigons 🙂
Please could we have some these on Warhammer armies ?
(I registered just to say that !)
@davidwolf … send us a WHFB list and I’ll see what I can do. 🙂
what kind of points we talking? 2K, 1.5K?
@sephiroth … you choose. We consider lists from a competitive tournament standpoint and most WHFB armies are around 2000pts, while European Tournament 40K armies are 1750pts.
The main issue with Nids is synergy. Individually the units are weak, but together they are stronger.
eg a hive tyrant with preferred enemy and a tervigon with adrenal glands and toxin sacks turns you lowly termagants into killers if they’re within 6″ of both. They now have re-rolls to hit, wound on a 4+ and re-roll wounds on T4 and less troops.
Biggest issue is anti-tank, which is why you need lots of hive guard. Once you’ve oped the cans you can nom nom on the contents…
Termagants in a mycetic spore probably aren’t worth the points, and you have the issue of synapse. Not worth it. I agree with not tooling up genestealers, give them a broodlord and they’re good enough as it is. Tervigons are excellent, try shifting a couple of them on objectives birthing gants out constantly…
I still think the big beasties are okay: tervigon, trygon, tyrant they’re all alright its just the carnifex got hit hard with the nerf bat.
I have not see the list in question but posion on higher strength nids are not so bad. Don’t forget if the Strength of the wielder is the same
or higher than the Toughness of the victim, the wielder
must re-roll failed rolls to wound in close combat.
A 4+ re roll which wounds 75% of the time is better than a single 3+ that wounds 67% of the time.
Just two corrections:
– A Hive Tyrant with wings cannot take Tyrant Guard.
– A model with poisoned weapons whose S exceeds the enemy’s T gets a normal attack at S vs. T with a re-roll.
Close, but not quite. You do not attack at “normal S vs T”, but rather, re-roll to wound on the fixed value, in the case of toxin sacs, a 4+. So for example, a unit of genestealers with adrenal glands and toxin sacs charging a squad of tactical marines would wound on a re-roll able 4+, not a re-roll able 3+. Trust me, I just checked the rulebook, you had me all excited… 🙁 On the list itself, I think warriors are a poor choice. They’re just as weak to missiles as big beasties, if not moreso, because of instant… Read more »
