Oooh, old studio…
But guys, why would you take Battle Tanks against wraiths?
They’ve got a 3+ INVUL, not regular save…
So wouldn’t the likes of a manticore or 2x griffon be better?
Additionally, I don’t think there’s any use in using hydra’s. A guard player has access to more than enough AA through vendetta’s etc.
So don’t bother spending points on them, use it to buy some more artillery!
Basilisks, griffons, manticores… A lot of armies rely on cover, so taking that away will really hurt you’re opponent.
Think what a big blast of a basilisk would do to y’r long fans Darrell!
Dante and two squads of Sanguinary guard is probably the allies I would add to the imperial guard for that sort of meta game to be honest, very mobile , troops, dont quite hit as hard as the grey knight terminator squads, but I think more useful over the course of a game.
Thsnkd guys for the comments on your latest 6th ed tournament. So it looks like guard are the top tier army at the minute, daemons have made a comeback and Necrons with loads of fliers are still in with a chance.
I’m glad to hear thar tanks are still able to play a part in the game. I was afraid that they were not compeditive enough to use any more.
Would I be right in saying that ith not all about Space marines any more?
Some interesting observations.
I’m actually a bit surprise as far as the Guard vs. Necron debate goes. I would have thought that Necrons would be able to make a much better impact on a mechanized army, glancing tanks to death with their gauss-weapons.
How did the Necrons get 6 fliers into a 1850 list?
Played a club doubles Tourney recently but they had a limit of 2 fliers per army 1st was a pair with Necrons and 4 fliers. I’d agree getting across no mans land is really hard though and your not in any shape when you get there.
you can get 12 flyers into an 1850 cron list
I went a Throne of Skulls event at Warhammer World and 3 players rocked up with 7 necron flyers in 1500 point lists.
the reason you’d target the wraiths is 1 failed save = 1 dead wraith. it will cause instant death as they are toughness 4
with the battlecannon as it is stre 8
Wraiths have 3+ and 3++
I know how you can get 9 fliers into an 1850 Necron list. 6 troops and 3 heavy, But how do you get an additional 3? Would it be with guard allies??
Guard can take 3 Vendetta’s as a squadron (1 fast attack slot)
I do think that 10-15 Lootas are more effective AA than Hydras. They can also move 6″ and still get their snap shots.
were there any Heldrakes around?
Any CSM allied with Chaos Daemons?
just wondering. I am a rec player for sure but I’d like to be a fly on the wall through your tourney experience.
well I posted that comment right before you decided to start talking about Daemons, nice. Were flying Monstrous Creatures there as well?
Grey knights, take mordrak with ghost squad join a Libby with summoning and divination pull up terminators round two and take out the tanks, two storm raven will own the sky for the flyer spams or just ally IG to get some range and anti air maybe?
You can’t have Summoning and Divination
wow new dark angels stuff looks dank as hell!
Doesn’t Skyfire only work against Flyers?
Flyers, FMC and Skimmers
Drat.
Necrons can take 12 NIght Scythes
6 Flyers to carry Troops
3 Flyers to carry Elites
3 Flyers to carry Fast Attack
And 3 Doom Scythes
3 Flyers for Heavy Support
I wonder if playing with 12 flyers would be any fun. I’m guessing that it would be very compeditive against certain armied and then a bit rubbish against others. A bit like paper rock scissors.
@redshane. I’d reckon if all of your units can move up to 60″ in a turn and all but a few of the enemy can shoot you only at BS1 there aren’t too many armies out there that would stand any sort of chance against all that.
I completly agree with you on that point. The only problem is if you then go against a guard player who decides to get 6 or even 9 hydras and castle his army to shoot you out of the sky. Then after investing all of that into an anty aircraft army, you then are not much good againds a more standard army.
The only thing I am really saying is that it may make the game a bit unbalanced.
Yep spot on I reckon, see what the new Codices bring I guess
So any ideas for a 1850 guard with wolf allies ?
Well I have been raising hell in protest of your guys absense… …you been missed. That out of the way I know everyone is building guard splash your favorite flavor of space marine.lists out there well I have started a ork/necron list while I know I am at great disadvantage due to ally chart. Meaning they are not battle brothers however like you have mentioned the necron flyers are beast for the points. I am wanting to taxi boys over to the enemy while making the other players psition softer with warriors shooting and the flyers. whether people like my… Read more »
I’m actually considering a grey knight/tau force. A Coteaz and DCA/Crusader henchmen warband force in stormravens maybe including some purifiers decked out with incinerators. Allied with plasma + missile pod battle suits, fire warriors, path finders and some railguns from either broadsides or a hammerhead. Railheads are nice with disruption pods, multi-tracker and target lock = AV13, 3+ cover save and can move 12″ and fire everything at multiple targets. I don’t play any tourneys so it doesn’t have to be hugely competitive and I know tau are the butt of all the jokes but I think there are a… Read more »
