Steel Crown’s Empire Conscripts

Steel Crown Productions have a new unit of sci-fi soldiers for you to field. The Royal Empire Marcovian Conscript Squad.
These figures are perfect as an alternative Imperial Guards unit. Their captain would also be a good alternative Commissar figure in my opinion.
What are your thoughts on these figures? Leave us your opinions in the comment section below.
Hmm. 10 Deathcorp of Krieg from Forgeworld for $56, or 10 of these guys for $20. Math is not too hard to do…
What the heck, a -1 for price comparing these to Forge worlds Death Korps?
Not bad for weird WW 2 as well.
Exactly! Speaking of which, Beasts, when are you going to do a WWW2 (or at least a Secrets of the Third Reich) themed week/series? Like a Weird World War Week? 😀 There was never a better time with a number of rules out (SotR, AE: WW2, Geheimkrieg, Endless War, the upcoming Dust Warfare, …). The only problem is none of these have a try-out demo version freely available so if you’d put your expertise to use giving us some insight into the available games, I think a lot of us who like the idea of Weird WW2 would really appreciate… Read more »
ditto. cant wait to see Dust Tactics get the BoW treatment. 🙂
love it
The style is quite awesome. But quality wise they look like Cadian IG from the 90’s rather than Kreig of today.
I agree that the forge world Krieg are excellent minis, (awesome trench coat dynamic posing) but if you are on a budget, then this is the way to go for your standard troops. You would need to have cash to burn if you wanted to field a forgeworld Krieg army. 40 Troops plus 4 heavy weapons and an HQ would run 235 pounds. ($370) And thats before you bought any Tanks.
They’re not strictly wysiwyg for IG, since IG sergeants cant actually have a freakin’ rifle so you’d have to use their captain or a shotgun as the sergeant and claim them as vets, but the slug rifles and snipers would work nicely as Magnus’ trenchers or long gunners in warmachine, representing mercs he’s trained rather than cygnar troops that have turned- it makes sense to have a gas mask if you’re throwing smoke bombs about the place all day.
True, but the only place you play wysiwyg for GW is either at an official tournament, or at one of their stores. By this argument, the only models that could proxy for GW would be those that exactly match the GW gear specs. I don’t see that happening: ranges put out by competitors that are EXACT matches for GW armies (Mantic gets close, but there are some variations). So either you have to give a bit on wysiwyg, or you basically rule out any choices for proxy
A lot of unofficial tourneys and clubs use wysiwyg, the ETC for example, and even just between friends its preferable to both players checking the list every time they shoot.
Seriously, you’d tell a friend you wouldn’t play them if they said oh by the way that sergeant with the rifle, thats a bog standard sergeant with a pistol and chainsword? Come on now Calum.
Depends on the friend, lets say it was someone known for slightly advantageous interpretations of the rules, I’d make sure the model was marked with a strip of paper on the base at least…
