Get Started in The Edge of The Empire
December 19, 2012 by dracs
The Beginner Game for Fantasy Flight's new Star Wars RPG, The Edge of The Empire, is now available for you to get started with!
I know a lot of people have been looking forward to getting into this game, so this set will help you to get to grips with the mechanics of exploring the edges of the Star Wars universe.
Once you have got through the beginner's set, you can always go a little further with The Long Arm of the Hutt, a free to download adventure from Fantasy Flight Games.
What sort of character would you want to be in Star Wars?

Wait. The starter box ships before the core rulebook? So, if you really like the starter box experience, you have to wait until April to expand your playing options? They’re going to expect players to play pregen characters until then? Seems like a miscalculation to me (or a production pipeline problem).
the box is taylored towards beginners and the people who played the beta already have a core rule book. since the beta has ended a while back my guess is, that the core rulebook will follow shortly so this should not be that big of a problem. it is more intended as a attention catcher (again my opinion) to draw in new players and as soon as they tasted blood, they think that those players will advance to the other products of the

Most companies release their starter after their core for good reason. If you intentionally whet your customers’ appetite for more it’s probably a good idea to have more to sell them while the impulse to buy is still strong. Production delays impacted the X-Wing line (second wave of releases delayed for a full quarter after the initial street date was already announced). Production delays impacted the Netrunner line… Read more »
Come on Space Balls, its time you made your appearance 😛
I preordered this when it was announced but cancelled my order to save money for the actual rulebook (not the beta). But yes, it’s aimed at beginning players much like the Dungeons & Dragons red box.
