The Shaltari Tribes Make The Dropzone A No-Fly Area
December 23, 2013 by brennon
The Shaltari Tribes have popped onto the preview battlefield to say hello with their full preview of the Anti-Air Walker that will be joining the fight for Dropzone Commander.
It's quite the looker and really does reinforce the belief that it has a lot of basis in the Covenant designs of the Halo universe. I like the look a lot and would look quite at home as a stationary gun platform as well as a moving one.
I can imagine it being quite the terrifying drop into the hotzone with these things walking around below you threatening to blow you out of the sky.
Will it be in your army?

Another very attractive piece of hardware.
I wonder will there be a counter to all this AAA? Like the Wild Weasels and Iron Hands of yore, perhaps a long range counter-AAA system to make a hole for the dropships. Then again, that role could be fulfilled by orbital firesupport – energy weapons from capital ships blasting an LZ in the way the US NAvy created LZ’s out of the jungle but dropping a few 16-inch HE rounds on it.
More AA options doesn’t equal more AA.
I’ve found that over investing in AA is a pretty good way to hamstring your force. Odds are these are alternative support/standard choices that allow a different flavour of shaltari force!
I hope that DZC can make some units that can take on ground targets as well.
I know the UCM and Shaltari have one each, but it’d be nice if they could do an anti-tank variant of the new PHR skimmer they released.
