Carlos joins Warren to have a look at how you should go about setting up your Infinity gaming tables. They also have a chat about just how much is too much when it comes to laying out your futuristic city-scape. Grab your sniper rifles and lock and load for a game of Infinity on a perfectly made gaming table!
In my humble opinion, the best formula is 3/4ths of the table filled with terrain, half of it LOF blocking terrain other half “scatter” terrain (walls, crates, anything that provides cover really but models can still be seen behind it), buildings and major terrain aligned diagonally to the deployment zones.
those multipacks of small 1 serving cereal boxes are great
Wow. they use much less terrain in their games than I am used to. Our group tries to use as much as possible in order to give it the most realistic feel. If you think about real life, stuff is everywhere. And yet we still don’t see template dominance that much. Weird.
Do you find any biases in the army lists you put together, knowing that you’ll be playing on concentrated terrain tables?
Something cannot be ‘very unique’. Either something is unique or it is not. 😀
Very true, sir. 🙂
We start in the middle and work our way out with building and woods. Then we place scatter terrain. Each player takes it in turn to choose a peice then place it. You find that because you’re choosing in turn all the best sniper spots end in the middle as the other person doesn’t want their opponent placing it, and that you place all over the table. You get a nice asymmetrical board that means quite often people take choosing the board side over taking first turn for the advantage of terrain.
Very nice and useful video. Thank you for that. We got sturdy paperstorage boxes that were five for like 11 pounds/13 euros from a papercraft vendor. Thick cardboard, coloured white already. Two packs of those and your table is nearly covered. ^^
For infinity I always thought you just left all the terrain in the box and played the game in there.
🙂
Whatever you’re playing a well laid out table makes a game.
Really helpful video. I know what kind of cardboard building to build now. 🙂
I. Love. Infinity coverage. That is all.
Great video for new players of infinity.
I have to agree with spaderfish though, we use a fair bit more terrain than that. 5-10″ between total cover of various heights, with a few more open areas with scatter terrain in.
The majority of our total cover is low, only single story, with about 3-4 pieces that are higher. Gives lots of cover but snipers still can be effective. Well it works for us anyway! 🙂
Great tips and hints, nice video, thanks BoW, you rock as usual!
I liked watching this; I’ve been collecting boxes and assorted junk for a the last few months and it gave me an idea of what to start making terrain with: One building, say 4-6″ high, at least as long and around 4″ wide. I wonder how tricky steps are to make?
