One cannot serve Menoth and Money both… or can you?

I love my Mercenary army for Warmachine. I like the way that they require that extra bit of skill and finesse to get the most out of them.
However, this was not always the case. Before switching to the Mercs and the lure of Magnus the Traitor, I was a staunch acolyte of Menoth. So when I looked at the Privateer Press website last night and saw the Attendant Priest... I frothed myself into a lather.
From the jist of the flavour text provided with the pictures, it seems that this model will be adding the benefits of a Choir of Menoth to Mercenary units that take the field alongside the Protectorate of Menoth... much like the ability used by the Skorne Paingiver Taskmaster uses on Minion allies.
However, as we all know, the Menites have a "problem" with non-Human races, so the Dwarves and Ogrun of the Searforge Commission won't be signing up anytime soon... so much the pity...
The more I see, the more excited I get about the release of the new Wrath book for Warmachine.
So, if I come across any more tasty tidbits, I'll be sure to post them here!

Harsh people with the “thumbs down”!!! Poor guy is just expressing his opinion. 🙂
The sculpt seems a bit thick for my taste, even with the ribbons… He just looks like another average menite clad in capes and cloth. Still, must be fun to field, leading the mercenary flock !
Yeah… I might proxy him myself.
I’m more excited by the rules for this one, rather than the sculpt. I’m going through the possible Merc units that might benefit the most… probably Steelhead Riflemen or Halberdiers.

I’m surprised they are releasing so many models before the Wrath book comes out… when is it due, June?
They’re not saying… but that’s the Privateer Press way.
The [Wrath] book isn’t essential for playing the game (all the stats and abilities are on the stat card in the box/blister), so PP release some models, then the book (which shows you the other models due out), then releases the rest of the models.
So, if you’re a fan like me you want the book, but if you just want to play the game… just get the models! 🙂

Yeah, also the books are really worth it for the amazing art, the painting guides, and the fluff… Most of which is very good, for Warmachine. That way you can actually build armies that are coherent in your gaming world. Coherence is SO much better ! I own the Iron Kingdoms RPG and I use the fluff from warmachine/hordes for this as well, since it’s the same universe.
Do you think you need the books for army list building? or can you make do without?
The only book you might need is Prime(Warmachine)/Primal(Hordes) as it contains the base rules for the game itself, but none of the supplemental books are needed. All the models come with cards that have their point values, stats, and special rules that you need to build lists and use the models.
Even then, you can get by on the free starter rules until you get into units and solos… and even then… if you understand how they work, you don’t need the main book.
You can also still get copies of the free PDF download of the complete rules that were released back in January, if you look in the dark corners of the interwebs.

For list building, there are some good sites with a list building funciton…
I recommend Forward Kommander.
BoW Andy
Yeah, the only problem I foresee with not having the books and using Forward Kommander, is that you don’t know what each unit does and what synergy it has with your army. So you can plan out what to buy ahead of time, rather than buying all the models… which is not $possible$ for me. 🙂
Also, you get the tier lists in the books right?
Yeah, you get the tier lists in the forces books.
If you want to know about individual models/units just ask! 🙂

I am so completely in love with this model! The fluff of it sounds great, I hope the rules will match or even surpass the fluff.
I am pretty sure that this unit is only for protectorate. I was looking at the gallery and he is under proectorate and not the mercs. So he will probably just help merc units out instead of being a merc himself.
