New Sci-Fi Obelisk from Secret Weapon
October 22, 2011 by beerogre
If you need a table decorated in the style of some doomed world, swarming with sentient killer robots from a dark and gothic future then Secret Weapon have designed a cool obelisk that would fit perfectly.
I could see this painted up with the cracks glowing green. Very nice.
One of the guys in the shop is actually going to cast one extra thin and add a light inside 🙂
so necrons are out soon and this is released. coincidence?
Actually… kinda. I previewed this at least six months ago and then put it on the back burner because casting it hollow would mean adding another method to the production process. But then I saw something on BoW that brought it back to the forefront 😉
The bricks don’t line up
Hope it was just a mistake in assembly and the unseen panels are suitably arranged.
Actually each face is completely different – and sections that look like they might look up are coincidental.
From the pictures its not a mistake. I see your point @chibi but it’s not posable to have the bricks line up the way they where designed. The only way is to have the centre of the radius be on the middle of the obelisks vertical line. If they did that it would change the look radically and I don’t think thats what Secret Weapon is going for. With that on mind I see nothing wrong with the design.
I was thinking of in terms of blocks of stone rather than, say, a carved design or maybe cladding
apologies for getting it wrong :*)
Ah, no worries – I can certainly see from the limited pics how it might look like they’re simply a bit off. That one corner is a bit of an anomaly. The others pretty clearly aren’t meant to line up. The idea behind this was that each face would be completely distinct from the others while clearly related.
When and if I finally get a chance to build some larger terrain pieces I plan to add pipes and cables snaking into and out of the ground running away from this thing.
OH but this is nice !

I like it! it’s refreshing to see terrain intended for a race I actually collect 🙂 this is the kind of “third party” stuff I want to see! now if only someone had the balls to do Hrud & Umbra….
