Something Scientific and Slithery Appears in Deep Wars
June 6, 2012 by dracs
A new WIP image went up on the ShadowSea blog page today of the upcoming Dark Mariner Cephalid Scientist.
AntiMatter why do you do this to me? I am already trying to work through at least five game systems and their respective minis at the moment. But I want these so badly.
On the page we have also been shown some shiny new artwork. First we have two new pieces for the Ancients of Atalán.
Along side these are two new images for the Fortune Hunters.
All of this goes to show that this is not the sort of world in which you might decide to go for a quick paddle.
Any one else suffering from some serious shiny syndrome?

That’s a really funky looking snail-man.
With the summer more in full swing each day, these are becoming more and more tempting. I’d totally want a table full of plastic aquarium plants and those colourful fish you get for pound a bucket in toy stores “swimming” about. Ever since I was a kid I remember looking at the heavy historical diving suits with a mix of awe and dread of alien depths they enabled the wearer to step into. This game seems to convey this feeling for me personally very well (even if some of the fortune hunters’ suits seem a little high tech to me,… Read more »
The Cephalid Scientist is looking very creepy – loving the inhuman head, multiple thinner arms and the mass of tentacles at the base – all very alien and sinister. The irregular nature of the carapace scales is a good naturalistic touch too. More awesome artwork as well – the Atalan Light Mech is very different to regular human technology, more bio-mechanoid jellyfish than pure dead robot which adds to the advanced feel the Atalan stuff has. The elite soldier’s weapon has crystals embedded in it which reminds me of the Covenant Needler from Halo – again more hi-tech than any… Read more »

Totally agree Sam AAARGGHHH!
I was managing to resist but that Cephalid Scientist is too much!
ah! now THAT I am sold on! slithery and slimey beauty for sure….more legless/tentacled things like this will definitly get me to invest in this game as I general aesthetics and style a lot.
Figure range does look like something well worth considering. Like the idea of aquarium decorations for terrain
Super excited to see where this range goes. They have a very unique look to them as far as minis go. I do realize they obviously took some ideas from elsewhere **looks at the sea dog captain**, but otherwise has a pretty nice look as far as minis go.
When I saw the concept, I thought: “Really?” But now I like these little sea creepers XD
