Scibor Show That a True Spartan Wears Lots of Armour
October 24, 2012 by dracs
Scibor have proved that Frank Millar was wrong about Spartans wearing a cloak and a loin cloth with these new Sci-Fi Spartan bodies.
Now these bodies are a great way to separate a unit of your miniatures and make them look like true elites, but there is something off with them in my opinion.
There is no variety of stance and the chest plates do not give any impression of mobility. They look very solid and blocky. These guys would be in serious trouble if they ever had to bend over to pick something up.
I'm not sure about these, but maybe I'm wrong. Do you think I'm being a bit harsh in my opinion of them?

More nippled armour for Darrell , and it doesn’t look like they have knees- which is pretty common for scibor’s scifi armour.
They are a bit samey with the pose, but having said that I recently got a couple of the full models these bodies are based on in Maelstroms 50% off sale, and they build us as very nice models indeed, my GW marines are spartan themed, using anvil industries crests and heads and scibor shields, so the full models make nice captains/commander type figures.
Nicely cast and well detailed, not sure how well these bodies would look with anything but the scibor weapons and shoulder pads though, the proportions may be a little off with other peoples.
The reason they look blocky is because the way they most likely cast them. It looks like most of Scibor models are designed to be bottom feed cast. In this case the model will be upside down, with the resin pored in to the base of the foot. This will be easier with no middle section in the mold for separate legs. Thats most likely the reason most if not all the models have big loin cloths and such to fill the gap that would otherwise be present. I say this as one that has cased parts in the past… Read more »
