Scibor Craft A New Gothic Looking 28mm Mech Suit
January 6, 2014 by brennon
Scibor Miniatures have crafted a rather strange looking but certainly interesting Mech Suit. The Roman Cruiser Mech Suit isn't my cup of tea but I think it might be liked by a few people.
As you can see it's a bit of a mix between the mechanical and the living, although that is where I have the problem. I think that the head showing in the middle of it looks a little bit odd and I would try and cover it up just to make it that bit more mysterious and creepy.
I think if I cleaned up a few of the extra bits and pieces it would be alright but right now I think there might just be a bit too much going on.
What do you think, am I wrong?

the arms look like their from another kit, the body very ornate the arms quite plain and that cover on the head is that adjustable to cover the head or is it fixed as part of the body not keen
I love Scibors fantasy models a lot but their sci fi range continually misses the mark for me.
I find Scibor stuff so frustrating. It always seems to be almost amazing, but so often there is something a bit off about it. They sculpt some of the most life-like 28/30mm faces I have ever seen and their flesh and fabric is usually of a really high standard too, but the detailing on flat non-organic surfaces often looks like an after thought. That leads to the model as a whole appearing light and insubstantial where, especially in this case as a giant mech-suit, it should have weight and presence.
It looks like the arms are incapable of bending at the elbow.
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is no elbows!
I think it may be a tongue in cheek humour to suggest that in the far future, armies are not flexible, hehe. Sorry, best I could come up with….. 😛
I’ll stick with the fantasy range as almost every sci-fi model (with exception to conversion bits) just never quite looks right. I wish that was not the case as they do have model skills, just not in the future setting.
I don’t think it helps that it has been assembled in a running pose but leading with the arm and leg on the same side of the body. looks most unnatural and awkward.
