Relic: Space Marine – Gamescom Interview
August 23, 2010 by lloyd
Raphael Van Lierop from Relic dishes out some more info. on the up coming Space Marine game.
If you haven't seen it before here's a brief over view. It's a 3rd Person Action Shooter combined with close combat hack and slash (hell yeah), in which you play as an Ultramarine sent in with your company to save an Imperial Forge World from falling to the hands of a horde of Orks.
This bad boy is due out on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC sometime in 2011.

This game is going to be awesome!
Real Life Space Marine…. GAMESWORKSHOP IS BUILDING THE EMPIRE!!!
Woo brothers to war!!!!
DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!!!
Boo
That suit is awesome! Oh and the game seems alright. :p
😉
3rd person is not my fav gaming setup – but the world/fluff sounds good and ps3 too – cool
what do the studs in his forehead mean?
they represent 10 years service.
So after 200 years god knows were he keeps the rest! 😉
Don’t you mean 100?
nope, that’s not what is say’s in my 2nd edition
But then again fluff does tend to change with time.
Ooh yeah… i got a semi for this one!
is that for the game or where the other studs are?
GAME!….Im not an Ultramarine!…..or a rainbow warrior (what ever happened to that dubious chapter?) 😀
I’m sad that we can’t choose which chapter to play as; Blood Angels would definately be my favourite.
I’ll probably look into it when it’s released anyway. 😀
That just wouldn’t be feasible to have lots of different skins/chapters to pick from, let alone the script/story which is more than likely character/chapter specific.
Although not out of the bounds of possibility for PC gamers in the future, with their mods and jiggery pokery .
this game is gonna rock so much, its gonna lift wargaming to new hight’s and bring loads more to the community…
Or just drag even more people away from wargames.
“Hey cool I can be a spacemarine without all the geeky stores and huge wallet uses”
D.O.W 2 dragged me back to the genre, so your logic is questionable dear chap.
I actually may fit in your category and sort of agree with you. I own a very small collection of 40k minis that I do not plan on expanding, its mostly LotR for me. I like the 40k universe, but my slight interest simply just doesn’t outway the excessive cost of creating an extremely expensive army that will only be played with on very rare occasions, due to a lack of hobby stores in the area. Thats why, if I’m going to invest in a miniature collection, I want it to be more than worth my while; the background has… Read more »
can’t wait for this game to come out!
I really wish they would return to there rough image of the future it’s classic dystopian why can’t they stay true to in the future there is only war.
I would love to see something where your like wow this guys are assbandits everyones assbandits are there any good guys here?
And when you ask that the screen says.
NOOOOO!
In the future there is only war!
I believe this game has suffered a few delays in the past? so I hope they can pull this off.
The 40K universe deserves a game that is as good as the God of War series.
If it’s the team that worked on Fire Warrior (PS2 and also by THQ) then my hopes are high 🙂
Woot? Fire Warrior was utter crap!
But this seems to be awsome 😀
I wouldn’t say it was utter crap, but then my memory isn’t what it used to be!?!
But you are right Space Marine looks promising, as long as they avoid the button mashing that most third person combat games go down then all should be good.
Even it it ends up just falling short of God of War, Bayonetta, or Devil May Cry (which lets face it are all touched by genius) then i will be happy.
I must find out where that costume was made at!!
I will more than likely purchase this game, if not when it comes out, then definitely later down the road. It looks sweet 🙂
Great!!! Also for the PC! At first I was worried they only make it for a consoles
I need this game…
I want to see a video on a different website of the interviewer ;o) That space marine costume was awesome,
The movie looks rubbish in comparison to this, I think they should scrap the movie and start again because people will think the movie is just a joke.
Did anybody notice that the Spacemarine held the blade of his chain sword? Not the smartest thing to do.
That suit looks awesome!! I wanna see more of it, perhaps another video of how the did it… BOW?
The game looks great too… i wish in the future they think of making one where the marine stars as a scout and move up as you progress in the game…
Why does it always have to be ultra marines they are so boring
