Get Ready for the War Room from Privateer Press
February 8, 2012 by brennon
Check out this video detailing the new utility application from Privateer Press for Warmachine and Hordes.
The War Room allows you to make army lists, track statistics and rules, and use as the perfect gaming aid. With the rise in people owning tablets and other smart devices, this looks like it could help a lot with the wargaming scene. Also it eliminates the need for counters and trackers in games, lowering the potential cost to get playing.
Is this something you would subscribe too?

This looks set to be a great product. The ability to build armies and then record damage and effects during the game. It will also be totally legal for tournement play. My only concern is battery life. If all your damage, effects etc are on the device and the battery goes thats kinda game over.
Save game option ? Then change the batt, reload it and you are back to keep playing :P. Is good that you pointed out, but i think a fully loaded battery can endure 4-5 hours without problem (at least is that is my case with my mid-end android ).
Also for what Android version it would be available ? I have 2.2 :(.
My concern would be the price of the device! 🙂
That would be handy.
If it’s official and does everything it says, it’ll be worth something… And I do think it looks great.
But there’s already a free iPhone app called iBodger for building Warmahordes armies.
From the ibodger twitter. “By request I will no longer be supporting iBodger. Many thanks for all the awesome feedback and good times
I noticed in the recent update that the images have vanished…sad that ibodger is fading away it is excellent.
Ill store this one in rant about pp section in case I need it later
It is official. I was at TempleCon and they had the beta on their iPads and let us look at it. It is very sweet. iBodger will no longer receive any updates. This will be the go-to app.
There’s a decent replacement/alternative to iBodger at http://www.forwardkommander.com/
For a while now I’ve been wishing GW would do something similar on cheap android tablets call it a dataslate/magical tome etc, brand it with their logos and shove the main rulebook on it and sell the codices/army books as plugins for it,so we don’t have to carry a rulebook, a codex and 30 pages of FAQ around…
I remember when they did at one point have all the Space Marine codex information on a PC disc that you could make army lists on etc. As for something new, it would be rather cool to have an app which could help you on the battlefield. For example… Magic Card App – shows off your spells, stores the ones you chose. Army Rosters/Army List – allows you to store an army list and also shows references to each piece of equipment they hold, special rules for each unit. Combat Resolution Dial – Quick way to just add up whose… Read more »
I hope PP were decent about that because I’ve been using iBodger on android since it was released and the guy behind it did a great job to keep it up to date. It will have been a shame if the first he knew about War Room was a letter from PP’s lawyers..
They should contract the guy, he does a excellent job with IBodger. Also they should find a way to fusion WarRoom with Vassal, the replays that you could share without showing a table are really poor. It would be nice to a least be able to attach a replay file from vassal so that others can see it better (of course a video batrep is always better but not many people have time to edit/comment etc ). I think is a great step forward in the right direction, reducing the rule searching/learning time, cost of buying books/cards/tokens to be up-to-date… Read more »
*Sigh. I still have a Razr. I poured so much money into minis that I don’t have enough for a smartphone.
I am torn with this. Sure it might be little useful but to use it you need expensive device so getting actual cards and counters might over all be cheaper.
Hey for those who use a lap top to build warmachine and hordes armies lists…
Here’s a really cool program to use and it is free as well.
Check it out

I like the war room but wont buy pricey gadgets to use it plus I have a blackberry don’t feel like droppin coin for another phone….
Listed program is pretty cool to print up for league play, if your down with the Privateer Press action 🙂
i prefer ibodger but i guess its web based list building or paper…see my rant below
List building in War room requires you buy the virtual card decks ($7.99?? each)… so that $77 for all decks (i think they are offering a discount for all the decks)…ughhhh I can understand PP wanting to do this but the loss of ibodger hurts even more now see faq at pp for some info. I also hear pp had a word with the ibodger developer and got them in the beta etc so it should have all been good. Looks like a great app but unless I win the lotto its a waste of money for me- Ill stick… Read more »
Trebor There is maybe a whole other aspect we may not be looking at, Now granted I absolutely love PP and there game system. However there is a part of the video that hits me wrong a bit. Hopefully its just me and back to the table top. There is an illness in the gaming industry called the wow effect. That is driven by wanting to suck people into gaming with low to no I.Q. levels. It sorta started like AIDS did but instead of people screwing green monkeys to contract the disease. They encouraged monkeys and lab rats who… Read more »
Nobody wants a war game that looks feels and ultimately plays like WOW on the table top there are a score of other games that already do that in the digital realm.
I see i am not worthy when it come to a rant 😉
The IT for the sake of it annoys me and I work in IT!! PP have the potential for a great app but all they needed do was buy ibodger and tart it up a bit. Im not sure I like this new magic
@trebormills Allow me to throw you a rope my friend 🙂 The art of ranting on any forum must be not only fun to read, it must have a little nugget in there some where that makes it some how almost plausible at the end of it all… Sort of like tossing your wife a box of candy with your battle foam bag tossed over one shoulder as you head out the door. On Valentines day, then convincing her, you were only wanting to give her some solo time to do what she wants as a present. The reality of… Read more »
Oh ya, the best rants in my opnion are the ones you don’t mean-LOL
War room faq updated or will be soon: More free cards will be built in to app- prime/primal stuff apparently. I also got faction deck prices wrong in an early post, bundle deal is good saving.
My rage fades slightly, not sure I like IT for sake of it but the core app is at least not so useless
Okay, why is the mag hunter assassin listed as a chain blade protege? Is there some new unit type for scyrah or am I missing something here?
