Prodos Bring the Clash of Aliens vs Predator to the Tabletop
October 25, 2013 by dracs
The 80's firmly cemented two extra terrestrials as some of cinemas most feared monsters, since when they have killed us and they have killed one another. Now Prodos Games are bringing their battles to the tabletop. Get ready for Aliens vs Predator the Miniatures Game!
Whoever wins, we lose.
The facebook page for this awesome new miniatures game has just gone up and already we have seen some sweet looking miniatures are in the works.
In the films the Xenomorphs always held the advantage in terms of numbers so it is cool to see that there will be different types of the alien to contend with.
Meanwhile, in the blue corner, the Predator's are gearing up with their high tech weaponry to give them an edge over these ultimate killing machines.
I am heartened to see this franchise being brought to miniature form by Prodos Games. These guys have done a spectacular job with Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection and the miniatures shown for the AVP game look, if anything, even better.
Still no word on whether or not there will be any humans joining in on this grudge match, but let's face it in these films we are essentially the universe's red shirts. Unless your name happens to be Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sigourney Weaver.
Would you field the terrifying Aliens? Or will you join the hunt as a fearsome Predator?

I wonder if they are going to do a clear model for when the preds camouflage…
I’ll get more excited for this when I actually get my WZR stuff in from the KS.
I had a feeling their June release date was a bit of wishful thinking. But it is almost November and I still haven’t even gotten my shipping confirmation email…
Totally agree with this. Disappointed in PRODOS to be teasing a new game when they can’t even deliver on the stuff from their 1st Kickstarter, now five months late.
I sure as hell won’t be buying this on Kickstarter. I’ll wait and see if it ever makes it to retail.
I was expecting it to be August since June was far too close to the end of the KS. But as I said it is now the end of October and neither myself nor the other four or five guys in my club have gotten even an email confirming that stuff is on the way. And this is after an update they posted at the end of Sept. which stated that they were starting to ship product. Like you I’m wary of Prodos now. When I actually see items being available for retail I’ll gain more confidence in them.
I got my Warzone package this monday – I did NOT receive a shipping confirmation however, it just arrived randomly. Perhaps shoot them an email? They’ve been very responsive when I had querries.
Which side of the Atlantic you live on? I’m over in the US so I try to always factor in an extra 2 weeks.
And out of curiosity, did they come in retail boxes?
I’m in England. No, nothing came in retail boxes, they were just in those generic resealable bags. My pledge was just a cybertronic starter.
I will buy all of this.
I want an Alien Horde so bad to put into Deadzone!!! Oh I cannot wait!!!
Clear model of the Predator camouflaged would be so cool…
Is this going to be on Kickstarter? BECAUSE I WANT!!!
I hope this is a little wyas off.. it’s been a awful month for awesome kickstarters!
Bones II…
Mars Attacks…
Shadows of Brimstone…
and now this?? toooo much!!
Humans are in it. Check the facebook page.
Excellent they hadnt appeared when i wrote this but it gives us something to report on later
I’m buying some , and so is my wife !
Im getting that box, for damn sure
well as I was a playtester on another companies version of this it will be interesting to see how they balanced all 3 races.
pred camo only works on humans. preds also kick the crap out of aliens on mass (ignore the films, they were stupid preds).
human weapons at range own the aliens so unless playing in spacehulk style maps the aliens really struggle.
overall we found it extremely difficult to balance for a game so will be interesting to see this one
This is very interesting. I didn’t back the WZR Kickstarter – but if that’s well received I’ll definitely jump in.
Depends on what you mean by “well received.” The models look pretty in the pictures but since we haven’t gotten our stuff – ~five months late now – it’s hard to say if it will be as good as it looks.
The quality of the rules and minis. At least Prodos aren’t rushing it 😉
Rules are a bit up in the air at the moment. They released beta-ish rules for all the factions and there was already an issue with “codex creep”. The first four factions released (Cybertronic, Legion, Bauhaus, and Mishima) were relatively well-balanced. But Capitol seemed a little OP imho. A whole lot of rapid/drop deployment and plenty of ways to make sure that your guys go exactly where you want them. And then Brotherhood came out…which was way too powerful. Maybe it will all get cleaned up and fixed by the time the book finally makes it out the door. My… Read more »
That’s what I was driving at. If Prodos do a good job of WZR (delays or no – whether the end product makes it to market, is well-produced and is enjoyable) the right side of an AvP Kickstarter, then I’m interested. Or more to the point, if they don’t I’d be very wary of backing it.
Yes, it’s really nice of them to take their time on dev AFTER they took my money.
Take my money!
I have been intrigued by the Aliens since their first outing in the original film. And the Predators are formidable opponents. So if you throw in colonial marines, ‘Get to the choppaah!’ and maybe even The Engineer race, this has great potential. The sculpts shown look fabulous. I am interested.
I want this to be good so badly…please oh please Gameing Gods allow this to happen and be brilliant.
I Must have this more info needed
So hard to choose… I guess I’ll be playing whoever the fiancee doesn’t pick. She usually picks the bad guys…
I’m wondering about how to get a real nice sheen on Aliens minis, though. I’d probably just spray them black and hit them with a coat of clear pearl or something, but I’m lazy as can be.
