Privateer Show Off Morvahna & Gargantuans For Hordes
December 12, 2012 by brennon
Privateer Press take a look at upcoming releases for Hordes with Morvahna the Dawnshadow and the Gargantuans Rules! Let us see what you think of both the model and the prospect of mighty beasts!
First up we have Morvahna atop her mighty steed...
"Morvahna the Dawnshadow draws her power from nature’s balance of life and death, using this cycle to manipulate the strands of fate. Her primal abilities are amplified through the blood of sacrifice, whether of her own life force or that of her allies. As she enters battle astride her skirovik mountain goat the power of life is hers to command, and those who follow her entrust their lives to her discretion. The ebb and flow of the natural order rests within Morvahna’s fingertips, and those rhythms guide her toward her destiny."
In terms of the model, I like the majestic stance. It looks like she is commanding her troops from atop a ridge keeping out of trouble and choosing the right time to strike. More impressive than Morvahna herself is the animal she's riding, I think that's the real diamond here.
The Gargantuans book is also on its way it seems, allowing you to take the mighty constructs you see in the art above to the battlefield in the same way you did with Colossals. I reckon that this could be even more popular than the Warmachine release!
What do you think of these future prospects for Hordes?

They also hid a preview of eVyros in their gallery. Not sure why he didn’t get a newspost on their front page but there he is.
Yup, good spot. I saw it on their Facebook earlier but when I couldn’t spot it on their site I imagined it might have been a previous model. He will certainly get a spot tomorrow morning.

Nice miniatures but very expensive when they get to the UK
It’s probably how the yanks feel about anything to do with GW!
Heck GW do nice minis but they’re expensive when they leave the factory in Nottingham or wherever they produce ’em! (China, maybe?)
Some of the models are a bit pricey on a per-mini basis, but you need a lot fewer to play the game even at the high points levels. I’d say, that as long as you aren’t buying colossals or gargantuans, Warmahordes is a lot cheaper than any GW game to play. If you start buying colossals and gargantuans the price difference starts to decrease pretty significantly, but I’ve played effective games against colossals without having one myself many times. They’re not game-breakers like GW’s stuff usually is (if you don’t have a line of tanks you’re screwed, or if you… Read more »
I wasn’t making a commentary on the game systems or balance issues, neither of which I care about as you just said nobody is perfect, just that Privateer Press stuff is cheaper for US gamers compared to UK gamers whilst the reverse is true of GW miniatures!
I don’t know what that beast is, but it bears only a vague resemblance to a goat…
At least, she’s riding it in a ladylike fashion.
Looks like an Ibex type thing to me. I like the mount but the rider seems a bit generic.
