Playtest Total Extinction & Push It Towards Funding Goal!
November 13, 2013 by brennon
The Total Extinction Kickstarter has been going pretty damn strong and the fight between the Colonial Marines and the Glorlons is edging ever closer to it's funding goal. Check out some of the renders below...
The 3D work is looking awesome and I have this ace feeling of going back to the days of DOOM and Quake when I see these miniatures alongside a whole load of other retro Sci-Fi movies. The guys behind the campaign are also looking to get some more feedback on exactly how the game plays and they have included links for you to download and playtest the rules!
You can check out the Rules, Cards and Print & Play Minis by clicking this link HERE. Since it's so easy I don't see there being a reason not to give it a go, even with a few different proxy models! Some of the artwork for upcoming factions is also pretty impressive...
We might even have to break it out ourselves and find some time to give this game a go. Drop us some comments below on what you think of this campaign and is it something you've pledged for!
Get talking and playing!

These models are really cool imho and I really don’t understand why they are not doing loads better. I can only guess that they have a lot of people with the reminder set. Although I do see a trend of non British or US gaming companies struggle slightly when it comes funding, not sure why though as you only have to look at the other Spanish company Corvus Belli to see perfection of their miniatures!!
Hope this does really well as those models are truly cross-platform and yet lots of really nice and unique sculpts. 🙂
Wow interesting question. Do you really think there are some “anti-european-games-ghost” flying above KS european (non british) campaigns?
I really hope it’s not, maybe there is more the opposite, some kind of patriotism or in the case of british games for their reputation.
But here in Spain there are a huge wave of skirmish and wargames, spawning a lot of games of games of high quality.
We shall see in the near HeroQuest 25th aniversary game, of GameZone 😉 I hope the “Ghost” fly away this time!
As I say, I hope not too as quality is quality as far as I am concerned. As Poosh states below though, it would be great to see the actual models to see the actual quality.
Well unfair as it may be, there is definitely a paranoia for those of us in the USA about spending money with companies east of Germany proper. Notably, a good chunk of that paranoia has to do with the postal systems and not the companies themselves.
It might have something to do with the almost complete lack of miniatures, and people are (smarter?) less likely to invest in something that is just 3d renders.
You have to consider that Kickstarter propouse are for companies to present a project, and poeple how like it help them with their money, not showing a finished game and pre-order them. 😉
Well, if I´m not mistaken Kickstarter is for crowdfunding and not for pre-selling. People have an idea but do not have money to make it real. I imagine that if SG had money to make all the prototypes and an army of miniatures, they would not be on Kickstarter (at least shouldn´t). I like the idea which is very original and creative (it slightly reminds of AT-43, but still it´s different). For me it´s enough to see one or two miniatures and 3D renders (by the way there isn´t much difference, so the quality is high).
Yep, that’s the original idea behind kickstarter, but wasn’t necessarily the best idea in the first place :p
Why can’t I fund all these kickstarters.png
I put down some money for this, but on the whole it has left me a bit cold. Yet another ruleset for SF skirmish? Yawn… Unit cards? I HATE those. The minis are a bit on the expensive side, but look maybe worth it, mostly for the vehicles. Like it or not, successful Kickstarters are really pre-sales programs. If you removed substantial rewards limiting kickbacks to thanks and t-shirts, very few projects would really fund. I will throw $1 or maybe $5 for a good project but I will NOT throw $100 without getting something very substantial in return. And… Read more »
100% Agree with that man!
Now in Resin with extra mini’s 🙂
