this is all well and good vs demolisher cannons, but what about the longer range stuff like defilers or battle tanks? seems like deep striking termies is the surest way. how would you counter the dreaded russ spam? i’m building a nurgle army that’s mostly troops with 2 defilers for support, both armed with havoc launchers & lascannons. it’s all the long range fire i got, and i have to make due cause i’m happy with the list as is (it’s plague marines, csm squads and a unit of bikes with a lord…and the defilers of course). i was considering… Read more »
This is why I play a lot of drop pods. Tacticals with meltaguns & Sgt. with combi-melta; Sternguard with combi-meltas; and Ironclad dreads in Lucius pods (i.e. can assault). They’re not on the table turn 1 to be shot at, and can’t be stopped from hitting.
As a player of multiple Battle Cannons (x6 at the moment) with my Veteran Guard Army, I’ll just say it doesn’t help you at all. In fact nothing helps you!
Everyone should just give up when I put my tanks on the table! Muhahahah!!!
Kind of funny i have been doing this in the previous edition already, with a minor change in that i didnt premeasure i just put them right in front of the Vindicator with 6,5 inch away from my max deployment zone, eg 5,5″ from table edge when it was 12″ deplyment zone etc etc.
I learned along time ago not to play my Vindicators as front-line tanks. Yes, now in 6th they’ll probably still get to shoot turn one (if the opponent doesn’t follow the tactics in this video), but they don’t function well trying to advance. Instead, I play them as support units for my tactical squads and/or nearby objectives. They can now get cover more easily too, so I tend to wait for the enemy to come to me. Very recently I’ve put one tactical squad in a vehicle with one vindicator, and one 5-man foot slogging TH/SS assault termie unit together… Read more »
pre measuring at deployment is mandatory when facing tau, those pulse rifles are painful!
well if your opponent does not want to play fair way should you? you could just take 3 flyers and render the Battle cannon use less 😛 also try a city of death board where tanks are kinda useless. all remember the big blast wielding tanks/ walkers are all weak the reer so take advantage of that. A 3 / 5 man termi squad with combi weaps will take them out , a single obilerators is are even cheaper but could fail a T6+ monster that deepstrikes are great 2 . In the old codex i used to drop a… Read more »
