Ángel Giráldez Makes Urban War Pretty
March 15, 2012 by dracs
Some new painted pics of the Vasa KV72 Starfire battlesuit have been published on the Urban War Facebook page. Check it out!
This was painted by none other than the master of brushes himself Ángel Giráldez and I think it more than lives up to the expectations one would have of him.
What are your thoughts on this great paint job? Is there anything you would have done differently?

Similar painting style to his infinity Pano TAG with the big ammobelt .
I wonder if he uses an airbrush for some of these bigger models, because the blending on that is unbelievably smooth.
Every one of his minis I sit looking at the finished model and cant quite get how he achieved it.
I don’t think I’d have done anything differently or better really, it’s great. I might just have added small labels, warning stripes or symbols to it, to emphasise the scale of the machine. Bit of a nit-picking observation here, lol – If I made it the model itself, I might have made an ejection port for the spent missile casings-unless they fall out of the back of the missile launching tubes? And made the ammo belt look less like tubes stuck together. Some more panel lines or blocks of detail could have been added to make it look less like… Read more »
Got to agree on the ammo belt – while the model itself is good (flat areas of metal can mean great resistance to fire rather than lack of detail) the belt looks like there are no missile rounds in it. Capping the ends and adding to the tubes would have sorted this.
The paint job though…another clear win for Studio Giraldez. It looks the spitting image of the concept art and it’s extremely well done.
Impressive.
Giraldez paints so many things within a short time span so well he can’t be human. He must be a clone of all past artists mashed together.
Great paint job. Awful model.
