GW Finally Show the New Necrons – Better Late than Never ;)
October 30, 2011 by lloyd
Finally here's the New Necrons in all their glory. There a bit late to the party 😉 but it’s nice to see the range in 360’s.
Anyway watch the vid but try to ignore just how cheesy it is and let us know what you think of the models in the comments below.
Humm… novel idea that! Here’s a wee tip for GW, letting people comment is good and disabling comments is bad.

Did they run it by spikey bitz first?
Let’s hope so, or he might just blow!
cheesy? I quite liked it, especially the music. Like the models even more…
They could do better, but, I guess they did it and that’s something.
The new models look great, the video is a little cheesy but I quite like it. Plus I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be the last cheesy thing we will get from the new Codex.
Seems like necrons are getting little bit more close combat than before. I’m liking expesially from Lych Guard.
Want them ALL!!!!!!!
I like them but tome there is one problem, most models have initiative = 2… why do you want more close combat models that always hit last?.
yeah I mean praetorians and lychguard are 40pts each. They are very resilient with RP and good saves but against dedicated assault units of other armies I’m worried they won’t survive long enough.
well on the upside they are designed to be hit hard and if they live they will win thats why they are init 2 so they can hit before power fists and hammers and they are bad ass in combat with strength 4 and 2 attacks they should be good i think if you math hammer it they should kill 6-7 space marines in 1 conbat
A few pic from the codex can be seen at http://natfka.blogspot.com/2011/10/necron-information-from-white-dwarf.html.
Must be another lacky of wayland games (ha ha ha).
I am not from wayland!
Never been a fan of Necrons but hell they look nice!
Maybe the initiative will be higher than 2 in the new codex 🙂
Since they change the necron warriors quite drastically they could as well change the way the close combat troops attack.
is it just me or have the wraiths been removed from the codex? Havent seen them in any photos. well I shall ahve to wait and see. Only a few more days.
Don’t see much evidence of tomb spyders either.
is it just me, or did they spell shields wrong at 3:15?
Nice Job GW
oh crap, sorry dude, I meant to give you a thumbs up and accidentally clicked down by mistake and it won’t let me undo it! Thought I’d own up :s you are correct about the shield spelling error, was what I wanted to convey.
My thumb came to the rescue, fret not!
Yes they did indeed (foxmarine). How very special of them.
Bit of a Michael Bay’s Transformers look going on here and there with these new Necrons, especially with the characters.
Seeing the scope of the Doomsday Arc in 3D looks much better than the 2D images, which don’t do it justice.
First he’s a lord then he’s a tank … now he’s a lord again!
Sheesh, anyone would think it’s halloween.
I really hope the rules and wargear is going to be ridiculously cheesy and broken, with a complete retcon/rewrite of the fluff to enrage long time loyal ‘cron players.
I’d hate for GW to buck the trend for a rerelease faction.
BTW, I am buying the entire range =D
ok someone does not understand irony…
The rules for the Ark look fun, pretty high armour until it takes a good hit and then it might as well be made of tin foil.
The video is uber cheesy, and it has zoom AND spin! I wonder how many more ways to present us an image GW can come up with.
Soooo…’Cron Week? 😉
Well I might as well get the old guys out of the box and start painting. They might just become a competitive army once again.
Is it normal that the some of the Lords’ cape look like the suffered some bubbles ?
That said, I genuinely like the new weapons, even if i’m not a fan of the headgears and loinclothes. The barges and vehicles aren’t too “necron” IMHO, but they grow on you…
BoW Romain
Yes, it is suppose to be a little worn, cuz they supposedly slept for 64 million years. and since they are kinda focusing on the idea that the necrons are an ancient race similar to the Tomb Kings, giving their life essence for a body unfeeling and relentless I can see the vehicles working with their arches and such being very egyptian. I also am not a fan of the lychguard “crown” headgear and loincloths either, but the overlords look nice and dynamic, so they’ll fit well into the Necrons I’ve started in awaiting for this
I know the ‘ragged’ appearance from differing chain links in the cape comes from the passing of millennia, but look at the blown-up second picture of Imotekh on the GW website:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440160a&prodId=prod1380036a
The base of the cloak has pinhole bubbles in it, HIGHLIGHTED by the ‘Eavy Metal team!
I think they need some Liquid Greenstuff… 😉
Yup. Same thing with the necron lord is you look at the video (no back photo on the site yet)… Except the holes look bigger.
Overall I like the new necrons and it seems that the old armies are still very useable so that will make a lot of persons happy :-). Personally I don’t play necrons myself but I cheer whenever the xenos races get some attention.
@ all the lovely guys that work for this wonderfull site: Just be happy with the new pics and report the facts. There is no need to include things such as “better late than never”.
Wraiths and Spiders do seem to be taken out of the codex unless they are getting new models and are being released later. For those who wanted a broken codex all I can say is: Written by Matt Ward!
Once i saw MR Wards written the codex, i really hope this book doesnt fluff their background to the point i ebay the book a few days after purchase. However the Doomsday ark and ace snipers are being bought……cant resist.
From reading the white dwarf, sounds like the Stormlord could be 1st turn protector with the night rules 🙂
Well I like all the models, as ever with GW they’re great. I have major reservations about the background but time will tell. Mostly I’m looking forward to converting them to 2nd Ed 🙂
@jazzxeno
well, better get the ebay account ready, I am still trying to recover from the Necron / BA alliance, *cough* *splutter* vs Tyranids in the BA Codex. 🙂
Hey, if anyone wants to get a box of Necron Warriors NOW instead of pre-ordering them, Hobbycraft (in the UK) still has them on sale for £14.99! (Dunno if that was cheaper than the GW price but it’s cheaper than the new GW price of £20.50 for the exact same set of 12 minis with 3 scarab swarms!). Ring your local store to ask if they have them in stock and they can reserve a box for you. Which I’ve just done now! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this tip dude!
No probs mate! I don’t know when they’ll increase the price to match GW, but grab ’em while you can! I also found that ‘cos I signed up to their newsletter, I got sent an email with a 25% off everything coupon for this Thursday only at 2pm! So I’m gonna try my coupon out for more money off 🙂
