The guys discuss Anrakyr the Traveller, one of the few new Necron Overlords to come out of their long sleep with his mind in intact... but what do you guys make of him?

This will be amazing in apocalypse when people bring titans.
I think that’s one of the best special rules in the entire game, not necessarily in effectiveness, but in terms of a fun game, it doesn’t get much better.
Me, I think the ultimate one would be taking over someone elses death ray thingy and firing that if you were up against another necron army.
Hes my favorite! Number 1 best HQ imo, i call him the Prophet of the Void Dragon when i play him. But im just a little biased =D
So we have a guy that has one off the wrist and vehicles that suck people off?
I have a feeling the most used word in the studio when ward explained this to everyone was “giggity”
is it just me or does Darrel have no concept of something being overpowered. No Darrel the vehicle CANNOT SHOOT ITSELF!!! 🙂
anythig with a blast weapon could because of scatter
take over a basilisk
then enjoy the carnage
What about taking over a medusa or the one with the huge rocket, does this character override the missiles special rules and fire it immediately??? If he does that is frisking awesome
I would be very interested if you could take over a stormraven and fire off all those one-off rockets 😀 now THAT would be unfair 😀
Like taking over a sternguard veteran squad and firing all their combi-meltas into a swarm of scarab beetles. 😀
Yeah take it over on about turn 3 or 4 when you get bonus rolls to fire it and target his deathstrike missile across the board to his men, the guard player will be very upset lol 🙂
I just want to point out. In massive Apoc games like the 250000 Miniwargaming had, a tachyon arrow can be used across the tables to help out friends across the room!
Line of sight might be an issue, but that’s the first thing I think of whenever anything says “infinite range”, wouldn’t it be awesome to have like a hall full of tables all on the same game to use the really powerful stuff to full effect? Bring in the 8 foot range of a turbo laser destructor or lob Basilisk shells at someone on another table, have dogfights or bombing runs spill between tables and then off to one side a few games of BFG to determine control of the heavens above and who gets to turn their fleets guns… Read more »
I could have swore you said Anneka a few times in that video and each time all I could think of was Anneka Rice.
Will be interesting to see how he plays in normal games but as others have said other HQ’s seem better for now.
I don’t think you can shout your own vehicle you took over with itself because it says in the rules that “you can shoot with it as if it were your unit” and you can’t shout “your units” with “your units” do, yeah.
there is an apoc reload stratagem “subverted machine” where your lord automatically posses a vehicle to fire 1 of it’s guns and it takes D3 glancing hits too!
Would that work on squadrons because if it does that is dirty?
No it says “an enemy vehicle” not an enemy vehicle unit, but say you have a squadron and one’s to the rear, pick the one at the back and have him slag one of the others in his unit. Also it doesn’t say It cant shoot if its popped smoke, or gone flat out etc, so rather than shoot at a vehicle which is going to ignore half your hits you can take it over and turn its guns on the enemy- land raiders become a liability since the only blind spot to the raider’s guns is right behind it,… Read more »
hes pretty fun so like Warren says take him now and again perhaps or maybe even always cos he isnt bad at all really.
The tracker can take a court. Take a cryptek with harbinger of destruction and a veil of darkness. Drop the travler in the ass of what you want to take over. Shoot it, and if you can het close enough, assault it with your warscythe. Hopefully abhor something good, then blow it up so your enemy can’t use it.

**** The guy can fly over a vehicle in his vehicle, getting 3 S7 strikes with 2d6 pen, and then in the shooting phase, take over another vehicle within 18″ and blast away with it. Seems like he’s a great AT character to take.
With the Mind of the machine is the distance effected by flyers? In the rules for flyers is that you subtract 12″ when drawing line of sight, is Mind of the machine affected by this?
