New Necron Flayed Ones & Immortals
October 15, 2011 by beerogre
Finally, All Necron armies need troops, but what about some new models to represent them?
Check out the Games Workshop's new Flayed Ones and Immortals... but do you spot something different?
WHERE ARE THE GREEN
ACRYLIC RODS???
Here's links to all the NEW Necrons

Not getting the flayed ones, poor poses, and the middle one looks like hes wearing an aran sweater tied around his neck rather than someones skin.
The old models were perhaps better, but I’m guessing the change coincided with a change of fluff, for which these are a better representation.
Interesting that it appears you have to paint the rods yourself now.
The flayed ones are definitely inferior to the models they replace, the poses look wrong, and the one bottom right looks like its giving a cadaver a piggy back ride, which would have worked 20 years ago before GW decided to go Grimdark and superserial with the fluff, but just looks out of place now.
My question is how many are going to be plastic and which ones are fine cast.
I hope the immortals are plastic, I can’t see finecast working well with the massive guns held up by tiny wrists and ankles.
Thell be finecast
Each customer who buys them can then say “ill be back” in full knowledge that they shall be
also fits into the theme of Necron returning from the dead
Necron kit- each repair kit includes a complete figure to repair your melted figure
/sarcasm
😉
from what I heared they are now plastic along with Flayed ones
I agree with the above, the flayed ones are imo the worst models to come from this release. I think the immortals are spot on however.
I actually like the flayed ones… if I were an imperial guardsman, I’d rather be killed by any other necron but the flayed ones, because they look like they would be nasty about it and make it hurt a lot !!
I suppose as the first large-scale update to an army since the debut of finecast (or did the ogres beat them to it? I remember them mostly getting new character-type models) we might see what kind of army composition GW are aiming for in the future? Purely in terms of materials. I’d hope to see a good showing for poseable plastic troops if that were the case but both of these groups look like fixed-pose finecasts. The flayed one in the top right is definitely doing a Zoolander. Wait, isn’t that his Blue Steel? Appropriate I guess. Anyway, I like… Read more »
Yeah, I definitely liked the old Flayed Ones better. They had a more feral appearance. One thing I do like about the new ones is the different types of claws and talons for the hands, adds a little diversity.
I do like the no acrylic tube look for the Immortals. I think it makes the Gauss Blaster look more reinforced and heavy. Doesn’t just look like two Gauss Flayers stacked on top of each other. I wonder if other original units will be getting this no tube look like Destroyers, Pariahs, and Heavy Destroyers?
I think the Immortals are a plastic kit as it has 2 weapon options. I really like the foot sloggers that have come out so far. Much better than the dumb looking rowboat and throne.
D’oh, I didn’t even look at the second pic closely. The GW site has conditioned me to expect the alternate image will be ‘same figure against a white background.’ Wayland’s pre-orders page only lists the three new lords as being finecast, too, so I shall stop grumbling now.
Its good to see they are getting an update, hope the book is good and not boined lol. as far as the whole tomb kings in space hate thing going on, They have had that theme going on since the first metal ones came out.so i don not see the big deal, im just glad they got rid of those mostle dumb looking green rods.I agree the old flayed ones looked better, But we will have to see how they play when the new book comes out.
I think that the Flayed Ones need a better, more grim and grittier, paintjob. Otherwise I think they’re ok. Have check them out when they’re released.
As for Immortals, they don’t seem as big as the early rumours led to belive. Speaking of which. If the early rumours are true and Immortals can be taken as troops, I don’t see anyone ever buying a box of regular Necron Warriors again. A good improvement to the previous models.
I like the Flayed Ones, although it does kind of look like they’d fit right into the video for Thriller. If they’re finecast I’ll like them a lot less…and the Immortals look bad-ass.
The flayed ones look very similar to GW’s crypt ghouls, especially the one with the corpse on its back
i was thinking the the same thing exactly, its almost like they took the sculpts and just made them more unorganic :/ but they still look cool, and the immortals :O wow
Never liked the concept of the flayed ones, seemed a dumb idea to start with.
A 6 foot tall robot edward scissorhands is going to be scary enough without the need to festoon itself in bits of victims. Was always going to look lame on a mini, and out of place in the army as a whole.
I do like the new necron immortals and the weapon redesigns.
